The Duggars advocate for transphobia in recent robocalls

It seems Michelle Duggar, the mom from the hit TV series 19 Kids and Counting has taken a break from nonstop childbirth to push her new passion; transphobia.

Lending her voice to a series of robocalls asking voters in Fayetteville, Arkansas to tell their city council to strike down a measure that would lift a public ban that stops transgendered men and women from using the bathroom of their choice.

Opponents of the measure claim that lifting the ban would endanger children, as Duggar says in her robocall:

“I doubt that Fayetteville parents would stand for a law that would endanger their daughters or allow them to be traumatized by a man joining them in their private space… Women, young ladies and little girls deserve to use the restroom or any other facility in peace and safety.”

This is simply pure fear mongering as no evidence supports such a claim. In fact, evidence shows that transgendered people are the ones most likely to face harassment and violence.

“Transgender people — who are far more likely to be the victims of harassment and violence if forced to use a bathroom that is inconsistent with their gender identity or expression — deserve to have the ability to use the bathroom in peace and safety,” wrote Kit Williams, city attorney, in a memo earlier this month.

Duggars’ bigoted position is not all surprising given her fundamentalist religious beliefs, but nonetheless makes is just as repulsive that she is using her “fame” to discriminate against other human beings.
