Wednesday morning marked the beginning of the federal court case brought against the State of Kentucky by Answers in Genesis over the 18 million dollar tax incentive that the state revoked late last year.Tourism officials "took this reflexive, kind of allergic reaction to religion" when it rejected the ark project's participation in the tax incentive program in December, said Louisiana State Representative Mike Johnson, who is also the lawyer for Answers in Genesis. The incentive program … [Read more...]

Anyone following the Ark Encounter saga in Kentucky has seen that Answers in Genesis (AiG), the parks parent company has been moving forward with the construction of the park even after losing an $18 million tax incentive late last year. “The tax incentives, the tax rebates, have nothing to do with construction,” said Mike Zovath, chief action officer, and co-founder of AiG. “... We didn’t even include that in our budget or bond offering. That would all be used for future expansion.” This does … [Read more...]

Ken Ham says building his ark is more important than feeding the homeless

Photo: Answers in Genesis / Ark Encounter

A common question asked when the religious ask for massive sums of money for construction or personal projects is, “why not use that money for something better, like feeding the homeless?”Well, this is exactly what is being asked of Ken Ham, who is trying to raise 29.5 million dollars to build a life-size ark that he believes resembles the Noah’s Ark story from the Bible. "Nearly every time I post an update on the exciting Ark Encounter project, there seem to be those habitual complainers wh … [Read more...]

Ken Ham promotes his fabricated visitor report for the Ark Encounter and believes the state is trying to silence Christianity

In a new post by Ken Ham on Answers in Genesis titled, The Real Reason We’re Building the Life-Size Noah’s Ark in which he masterfully misunderstands everything about the Ark Encounter tax incentive loss; again. But not before first falsely reporting that the Ark Encounter attendance record in the first year of opperation would be 1.4 million people. "In fact, the very latest study by America’s Research Group (a renowned organization) has increased its estimated minimum attendance for the fir … [Read more...]

The Ark Encounter is hiring again and still discriminating against applicants

ark-encounter-wallpaper-construction

Some lessons are never learned. After losing $18,000,000 in tax rebates because of discriminatory hiring practices (and then deleting the said job opening which led to the loss) the Ark Encounter is once again hiring a CAD designer. And once again, they are requiring that you sign:Salvation testimony Creation belief statement Confirmation of your agreement with the AiG Statement of FaithThey don't know when to quit. Sure, the tax incentive has come and gone (though they are … [Read more...]

Americans United files motion to intervene in the Ark Encounter Lawsuit

Photo: Answers in Genesis / Ark Encounter

Last night, coupled with four Kentucky taxpayers, two of which are ordained ministers, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State has filed a motion to intervene as well as a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Answers in Genesis against the state of Kentucky for the denial of an 18 million dollar tax incentive. “A fundamentalist Christian theme park run by a creationist ministry doesn’t deserve any form of public assistance,” said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Am … [Read more...]
