Why won’t liberals see me as a sovereign human being?

Why won’t liberals see me as a sovereign human being? March 27, 2017

Here’s what The Guardian had to say about me in a recent feature: “Sheriff David Clarke Jr: the black Democrat who is Trump’s favorite cop.”

I have a question: Why did this writer feel the need to immediately jump to my race? I know who I am. I see that I am black every time I look in the mirror. I like who is looking back at me, by the way. If this reader never mentioned my race I believe that with all the photos he posted with the story, most readers who never heard of me would have noticed that I am black. But he like most liberals fell the need to label me not as if Sheriff or conservative was not enough. To the left, race is the ultimate descriptor when describing people, especially “black” people.

Enquiring minds want to know. Because last I checked, I am an American; a sovereign human being. Period. As an individual I represent myself. No one else. Imagine if The Guardian was brave enough to print that instead of describing me as a “black Rush Limbaugh with a badge.”

I resent “white” liberals referring to me by group identity; or placed into some box; or labeled by “white” liberals as some oddity — a “black” this, a “black” that. I have never once heard the liberal mainstream media refer to Democrats, progressives, Republicans, or conservatives by their race unless they’re black.

The last frontier for blacks to gain freedom in America is being freed in the minds of these “white” liberal Democrats and progressives who claim to be “color blind” but prove the theory wrong at every turn.

My friend, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, made a powerful comment on this subject and I’d like to share it with you.
