Thanks to Chicago Readers

Thanks to all who attended the meetup in Chicago this past weekend! As always, it was a pleasure to meet and talk to the real people who read Daylight Atheism, including one who made a very long drive to attend. (I still find it weirdly flattering that people are interested in meeting me.) I also got my first taste of real Chicago deep-dish pizza, which was delicious although - sorry, I'm a New Yorker to the bone - I still prefer the New York thin-crust variety.I had a great time in Chicago, … [Read more...]

Daylight Atheism San Francisco Meetup

So, are there any Daylight Atheism readers in that gorgeous, godless city by the bay? This coming Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, January 14th to 17th, I'm going to be in San Francisco to see friends and do some sightseeing. And since past Daylight Atheism reader meetups in Los Angeles and St. Louis have gone very well, I'd be glad to do it again. Quick Note on Facebook

Just an FYI: The Daylight Atheism site page on Facebook will no longer be updated. I tried it out for a few months, but I wasn't happy with the results: the administrator controls were poorly designed and hard to use, Facebook's staff was unresponsive when I had issues, and the page didn't send much traffic here anyway. However, I'm not abandoning Facebook entirely. I'm going to start posting site updates on my personal page instead. The URL is much easier to … [Read more...]

Vote for Daylight Atheism for the 3QD 2010 Science Prize

You may remember that last year, I won the 2009 science writing prize awarded by 3 Quarks Daily. Well, the 2010 contest is now open, and once again I'm in the running. Best of all, this year the celebrity judge is Richard Dawkins, which would make it especially sweet to win a repeat victory. Readers, are you willing to help me out?To vote, go to this page and scroll all the way to the bottom, where there's a link to the official poll. The post of mine that's up for consideration is "A Sense of … [Read more...]

Thanks to Los Angeles Readers

I wanted to write a quick post to thank all the Daylight Atheism readers who were able to attend yesterday's meetup in Pasadena. We got a great crowd together, and it was a thrilling experience to meet you all and to finally be able to match names with faces, and I'm greatly appreciative for the warmth, good company, and great conversation. (Plus, assembling at the restaurant and splitting the check turned out to be ridiculously easy. Who ever said that organizing atheists was like herding … [Read more...]
