The conservative American Family Association offers its prediction:
A conservative religious group is warning that 2060 will be a grim time, when Christians are treated “like African Americans were prior to civil rights,” the family unit is dissolved and America has a Muslim president.
Christian organization the American Family Association issued the warning to members on Tuesday in an email entitled “What will religion look like in the year 2060?,” according to Think Progress. The message was written by Donald Wildmon, the founder and chairman of the AFA.
“What will religion look like in the year 2060?” he begins, according to Think Progress. “Conservative Christians will be treated as second class citizens, much like African Americans were prior to civil rights legislation in the 1960s.” Continuing, “Marriage will include two, three, four or any number of participants. Marriage will not be important, with individuals moving in and out of a ‘family’ group at will.”
Wildmon also makes reference to the conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama is a Muslim, saying, “We will have, or have had, a Muslim president.”
The AFA was founded in 1977 by Wildmon, who was a pastor in Mississippi at the time. The conservative, anti-gay, anti-abortion group’s mission is “to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture, and give aid to the church here and abroad,” according to its website.
The group has run a number of controversial campaigns in the past.
The AFA promoted the boycott of an anti-bullying program in schools, classifying it as “a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools.” The group called for members to urge their senators to vote “No” for the United Nation’s disabled persons bill in November, although the treaty is meant to protect the rights of those with disabilities. In August, the AFA’s Bryan Fischer advocated for an “Underground Railroad to deliver innocent children from same-sex households.”
