A letter from the Vatican… October 13, 2015

Well, here’s something you don’t get every day.

It arrived by email last week from Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization:

I guess that phone call I got last summer wasn’t a mistake after all, and this makes it official.

Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor.

I’ve been invited to be one of the speakers at the Jubilee for Deacons to be held in Rome on May 27-29. I’ll be speaking on “Deacon: Icon of Mercy for the Promotion of the New Evangelization in the Workplace” on Friday May 27.

There are a number of deacons from around the world scheduled to address the convocation that weekend in different languages —and different churches— throughout Rome.

The following weekend, by the way, there will be a Jubilee for Priests, the centerpiece of which will be a retreat preached by the Holy Father.

Check out the Vatican website for more information. And if you’re interested, visit this link for a list of tour directors and travel companies who are putting together special packages for deacons and their families.

See you in Rome!
