Robert O'Brien Nominee: Rick Perry

Yet another one from Gov. Rick Perry, explaining what he would pray for at his event last weekend:

Perry: I’m gonna be praying for our country’s economic prosperity. There just so many people that can’t take care of their family because government’s over-taxed, over-regulated, over-litigated, it caused roadblocks to economic prosperity. I just don’t see any relief in sight.

Taxes and regulations are decided by elected officials. And God doesn’t have a vote.

    … because government’s over-taxed …

Who is “over-taxed”? Government? Who does the government pay taxes to? Corporations? Those are called “subsidies”, Rick Perry. But I’m glad you’ve realized they can cause problems.

“Dear Lord in Heaven, hear me pray, make all government go away.”

Since Perry seems to belong to the “drown government in a bathtub” school of thinking, and running to be elected head of that very government, and dumb as a brick, perhaps somebody could manage to convince him to take a shortcut and drown himself in his bathtub right away.

And his prayer failed. The economy has done nothing but take dives since his prayer.

    Praying for prosperity?

Isn’t one of the tenets of “prosperity gospel” that the suckers, um believers, send as much money as they can to some huckster who’s going to spend it on gold-plated Cadillacs and air conditioned dog houses?

It’s kind of the same with government, except hopefully it’s going to be spending it on roads and bridges and other stuff that benefits all of us.

Funny that fundies have no problem with spending shitbuckets of dough on stuff that kills teh Ay-rabs.

Hey, did Perry’s Prayerpalooza work? Is Texas getting any rain?

‘Cause we’re finally getting a little rain here in western Oklahoma.

    Thanks, Texas!

Rick Perry is worried that the Government is over-taxed, over-regulated and over-litigated? And I though he was for smaller government, and here he is stating he wants to help the poor ol’ government out.

Bet the Tea-baggers feel pissed at him! – Dingo

Lewelly & Dingojack, Ed didn’t quote his earlier prayer, “Lord, please grant me a robust understanding of grammar that I may use it to better pray with.”

Aren’t these the same people who complain that poor people don’t pay income taxes?

I’m also pretty sure that of all the problems that poor people will tell you that they have, business regulations and civil litigation won’t crack the top 50.

If I didn’t know better, I’d say Perry is praying that God take care of the business elite.
