Allah Sent the Earthquake to Punish America!

Here's an amusing twist on our theme from the last few days, a crazy Muslim claiming that the earthquake was sent by Allah to punish America.According to a posting titled “Allah’s punishment on Americans” on the Shoumokh Al-Islam jihadi forum by someone writing under the name Abu Ibrahim, “Allah has struck New York and the capital city Washington by an earthquake as a punishment for their disbelief.”“Such a little earthquake that measured 6.0 has terrified the tyrant American people and f … [Read more...]

Most Important Op-Ed You’ll Read This Year

Thomas Drake, the former NSA employee who blew the whistle on that agency's unconstitutional surveillance programs, had an op-ed piece in the Washington Post last week that should be required reading in every high school government and civics class and should be read by every American. What he reveals here is enormously important, especially that there was a system in place that allowed the government to comply with the constitution while getting the information it needed to combat terrorism, … [Read more...]

1st Circuit Rules Recording Police Protected by First Amendment

The 1st Circuit Court of Appeals has issued an enormously important ruling that says recording police officers during an arrest is not only constitutionally protected, but so clearly constitutionally protected that it overrides qualified immunity for an officer who arrests someone for doing it. You can read the full ruling here (PDF).As Balko notes, that distinction is important. This was not a criminal case; the charges were dropped in this case. But the plaintiff then filed a civil suit, … [Read more...]

Underwear Bomber Doesn’t Get the Law

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the infamous underwear bomber, is filing some rather interesting handwritten motions with the federal court in Detroit. Like he wants to be released because only Allah can judge him:The Defendant Abdulmutallah, is a Muslim who believes in Allah and His messenger Muhammad [Peace be Upon Him], and believes that all Muslims should only be ruled by the law of the Quran. The Defendant is being unjustly detained, in the United States of America, and subjected to the … [Read more...]

Interesting Case of a Florida Teacher

You may have heard by now about the teacher in Florida who was briefly suspended after posting some relatively obnoxious statements on his Facebook page about same-sex marriage. Here's what he wrote on Facebook:On July 25, Buell posted on his Facebook page, "I'm watching the news, eating dinner, when the story about New York okaying same sex unions came on and I almost threw up.""If they want to call it a union, go ahead. But don't insult a man and woman's marriage by throwing it in the … [Read more...]

Robert O’Brien Nominee: Pat Robertson

Pat Robertson joins the chorus of stupid:Robertson: Ladies and gentlemen I don’t want to get weird on this so please take it for what it’s worth. But it seems to me the Washington Monument is a symbol of America’s power, it has been the symbol of our great nation, we look at that monument and say this is one nation under God. Now there’s a crack in it, there’s a crack in it and it’s closed up. Is that a sign from the Lord? Is that something that has significance or is it just result of an ear … [Read more...]

McCain’s Libyan Adventure

Here was John McCain earlier this week criticizing Obama for not doing more militarily to overthrow Gaddafi:This achievement was made possible first and foremost by the struggle and sacrifice of countless Libyans, whose courage and perseverance we applaud. We also commend our British, French, and other allies, as well as our Arab partners, especially Qatar and the UAE, for their leadership in this conflict. Americans can be proud of the role our country has played in helping to defeat … [Read more...]
