On a recent show, Glenn Beck actually said something that was accurate. He said it in his usual faux-earnest, hypocritical and melodramatic way, but when he says “I’m sorry America, but your president is a liar,” he’s absolutely right. Obama is a liar.
Of course, every president is a liar. Every politician is a liar. Hell, every person is a liar. If you find a human being who claims they’ve never told a lie, you should know that they are lying. And the man Beck is supporting for president, Mitt Romney, is one of the most audacious liars I’ve ever seen. Even by the cynical standard that I laid out a moment ago, with the admission that every president is a liar, Romney stands out. Other than the fact that he believes he should be president, can you name even one position on any issue that he has held consistently throughout his political career? Can you name one issue where he hasn’t contradicted himself out of political convenience, telling different audiences what he thinks they want to hear regardless of whether it conflicts with his previously stated position in front of a different audience? I can’t. I doubt anyone else can either.
