Wingnut: Gay Curriculum Leads to Witchcraft, Pedophilia

Ira Thomas is a South Carolina teacher and weapons-grade wingnut who rants endlessly about the evils of the gay agenda. So he went on the radio with uber-bigot Linda Harvey and declared that a curriculum that treats gay people like human beings would lead to witchcraft and child molestation:

Thomas: There was another item about showing a video and I can’t remember what video but it was something dealing with the gay and lesbian [sic], but after sitting through several of those I decided it was time to let the voice be heard instead of sitting by and saying nothing.

Harvey: So what did you eventually say?

Thomas: In short I told them as a person I do not have a right to discriminate, but by the same token they do not have a right to disseminate what I consider to be harmful material to children. I do not have a right to tell them what to choose but they also do not have a right to choose a curriculum for me that I feel is biblically wrong. It’s like with prayer, it’s not right for me to put my Christian beliefs on anybody, it is right for me to share the Gospel, but even Christ gave us the choice. If we’re going to go there then the next thing we know we’re going to have everybody forcing things on us in school that we don’t believe in from witchcraft to even the molestation from children…

Thomas: I don’t want to take this analogy too far but the best one I can think of is the incident that happened at Penn State. So many people knew what was going wrong but no one spoke out for whatever reason. Even with this, we can believe it in our heart but if we don’t ever speak out we are allowing things to go and to keep going on and on.

Yes, Mr. Thomas, the school does have the authority to choose a curriculum that you think is “biblically wrong.” The Bible is utterly irrelevant to what curriculum we have and should have in schools, as are your religious beliefs.

Ridiculous – if you want a proper witchcraft curriculum you are going to have to go to Hogwarts.

If government school so-called “education” keeps up, South Carolina might eventually be forced to rank higher than 40th in High School graduation percentage. Do you want to live in a country like that? No!

Both witchcraft and pedophilia predate “gay curricula” by THOUSANDS OF YEARS. And today, the worst instances of pedophilia just happen to come from the LEAST gay-friendly elements of today’s societies: the Catholic Church, right-wing Muslims, FLDS cult compounds in flyover country, and ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods in places like Brooklyn. It is important that we remember that every single fucking time some idiot tries to link homosesxuality and pedophilia.

“Wingnut: Gay Curriculum Leads to Witchcraft, Pedophilia”

Which, in turn, lead to Gaycraft and Witchophelia…

    Ed:

Do you not actually think that such nonsensical “arguments”–if they aren’t just a mélangeri of mendaciousnessosity–are not demonstrative examples of severe cognitive impairment or, iow, well, I’m not going there.

I edited and STILL left the fucking double negative in there!

Quite amusing her citing of the situation in Pennsylvania (I assume she was referring to the Penn State brouhaha). Jerry Sandusky was not a homosexual as best we can tell. He was a pedophile and would have gone after pre-teen girls if they had been available.

I love how it’s the 21st century and people are still trotting out witchcraft as something to worry about..

That’s pretty much why I consider all the wingnut scares about child rape and molestation to be all lip service on top of the scapegoating of homosexuals. It’s not just the incidents themselves, but their rape culture reactions to them, namely blaming the victims.

    Hogwarts, Hogwarts, hoggy warty Hogwarts,

    Teach us something please,

Whether we be old and bald,

    Or young with scabby knees,

Our heads could do with filling,

    With some interesting stuff,

For now they’re bare and full of air,

Dead flies and bits of fluff,

So teach us things worth knowing,

    Bring back what we’ve forgot,

Just do your best, we’ll do the rest,

And learn until our brains all rot.

Hogwarts’ level is just about the minimum requirement for enrolling at Unseen University.

Draken, everybody knows that Unseen is a party school.

Curiously, I almost agree with Thomas that “they [presumably he means the people who have designed and/or are rolling out the curriculum he finds objectionable] do not have a right to disseminate what I consider to be harmful material to children”.

Where we part ways is, assuming that what he “consider[s] to be harmful” is teaching children that LGBTQ people are, you know, people too, thus deserving of equal recognition of their rights, etc. etc. etc., I consider that “they” have an obligation to do so.

“In short I told them as a person I do not have a right to discriminate, but by the same token they do not have a right to disseminate what I consider to be harmful material to children.”

Did Ira just declare himself to be a dictator? He’s saying that nobody has the right to say things to children if *he* decides it’s harmful.

Protect us from the slutty kids who might seduce us with their youthful bodies.

Draken, everybody knows that Unseen is a party school

Even their librarian is a real party animal.

Still deathly afraid of witchcraft – these folks are mentally & emotionally still living in 1692.

    Thomas:

Get a hold of yourself, man! Do you hear yourself? Boy, this gay agenda has really got you rattled. Now go get into people’s faces again. Those bibles are not going to thump themselves.
