Santorum’s Convenient Cluelessness

Rick Santorum says that Republicans shouldn’t talk about the “middle class” because “that’s Marxism talk” and “there’s no class in America.” Seriously. He can’t really be that clueless, can he? He’s just talking out his ass, right?

I would love to think of Santorum as being in the same mold as Gingrich and Palin – political showman looking for a buck – but I’m starting to wonder if he isn’t a theocrat pining for the dark ages.

  • Chiroptera

I bet he’s also not a racist since he totally doesn’t see color.

I’m not sure Rick is actually a human. I think he’s an android that has been pre-programmed with only a finite (very finite) number of buzzwords and an algorithm that randomly puts those words and phrases into sentences. Some of the words on the list include “middle-class” “America” and “Marxism.” These words just happened to all show up in another ridiculous randomly generated statement.

    1) I myself would like to join that Class that can borrow from the Fed at 1/2 % interest and then charge credit card holders 29% interest.

The Class that can borrow $Trillions from the taxpayers using bankrupt banks and hilarious collateral — and then refuse to let those same taxpayers refinance their homes to lower their mortgage payments.

The Class that can spare $4 Billion out of pocket change to buy the US Congress every two years.

The Class that can make wild gambling bets and collect the profits if they win — while dumping the losses off onto the common citizens.

Jefferson had a Bible with all the miracles taken out, Santorum has a Bible that makes no reference to the rich or poor.

Isn’t the creation of a classless society the whole point of Marxism?

  • Félix Desrochers-Guérin

Whatever its precise sociological definition may be, the term “middle class”—when used by politicians and pundits—is a catch-all that can include anyone significantly above the minimum wage and below the mid (or even high) six figures of income. It glosses over all but the most undeniably obvious class and wealth disparities. That makes it pretty much the opposite of Marxist.

In-sanitorum’s comments are where theory and reality collide. Yes, in theory we have no legal class structure and everyone is equal legally*. But in a practical sense we do have classes. This is opposed to societies in the UK who did have different laws for different classes and with them different rights. In the USA if you want to point out that certain rich person went to a known child-rape hot-spot with a bottle of Viagra, you could. But in the UK last century doing something similar could get you in trouble with the law.

If he wants to create a society were everyone is really equal and classes, that’s great. But we all know that’s not what he means. He just wants to keep people from thinking about how badly the 1% is screwing everyone else.

He seems to make an exception for everyone who isn’t a hetrosexual, christian, white, male however.

What a perfect match – economics was a frothy mixture even before an interpolation of Santorum.

So according to Santorum, the UsA needs no marxism because it’s already a marxist paradise.

And people look at me funny when I tell them that the GOP is the world’s biggest communist party.

“He’s just talking out his ass, right?” Yep. Again. Or, maybe more accurately: still.

So what Santorum wanted to say was that Santorum has no class.

But all we got out of it is that Santorum has no class.

Thanks! You’ve forced me to contemplate Rick Santorum’s ass.

Can’t listen in my current location, but did he also explain that gender and race don’t exist because both are social constructions?

It’s just another trip through Satanorum’s dark, twisted, and mostly empty mind.

The one positive thing Rick S. has done is leave a paper and video trail of what passes for his thoughts. So far, that is enough to make him unelectable most anywhere.

PS And BTW, Satanorum isn’t middle class. One year he made $1.3 million dollars as a lobbyist to the federal government.

Rick Santorum says that Republicans shouldn’t talk about the “middle class” because “that’s Marxism talk” and “there’s no class in America.”

Well, his speechwriter had to stick some reason in there. Santorum’s original speech draft said: “Republicans shouldn’t talk about the middle class because we hates them, nasssty hobbitses.’

Pope Rick is being investigated for illegally directing a million dollar donation to a super PAC.

It seems that he forgot about that little inconvenience that the candidate is supposed to pretend to not be aware of anything that those super PACs are doing.

He can’t really be that clueless, can he? He’s just talking out his ass, right?

Or, choice 3, all of the above. Being a particularly scummy politician (which is saying something…), he seems as capable as any to 100% believe what’s politically convenient in the moment, and to do so with absolutely no sense of self-examination or requirement of connection to reality.

We know that Santorum has a google problem. But he also fails to understand how Google can find almost anything he said in public for the past many years. Just enter this search string:

    santorum AROUND(5) “middle-class” -”TV guide”

and limit the search to before 12/31/2011. [AROUND is a proximity operator, and I’ve excluded “TV Guide” because without that exclusion there were a lot of false drops]

Just browse through those results…Seems Mr Santorum used to think it was just fine to refer not only to a “middle class,” but the “lower class.” Here’s JUST ONE example:

    economyincrisis.org/content/santorums-jobs-plan-needs-work‎

Aug 31, 2011 – In an appearance on Fox News’ “On the Record,” Santorum said that the main problem with jobs in America is that we are losing our good paying middle class …

He is one of the most disgusting, deceitful, self-serving, hard-hearted people I’ve ever known of.

“He can’t really be that clueless, can he? He’s just talking out his ass, right?”

Li’l Ricky is a master of asstriloguism.

“he seems as capable as any to 100% believe what’s politically convenient in the moment,”

I’d say that Li’l Prick, just like the vast majority of current movement “conservatives” believes that whatever he can say or do that will put his constituents in his pocket (or their money) is true.

  • http://polrant@blogspot.com democommie

“Rick Santorum says that Republicans shouldn’t talk about the “middle class” because “that’s Marxism talk” and “there’s no class in America.”

Li’l Prick is just engaging in some wishful thinking. Unfortunately for the “middle class”, he and the rest of the GOP are all for the wealth transfers which will eliminate the middle class and turn everybody into gentry and serfs.
