Perkins: Defund Health Care to Bomb Syria

Tony Perkins welcomed Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio to his radio show to talk about defunding Obamacare (he thinks, bizarrely, that the Republicans have a mandate to do so because of the 2010 elections). And Perkins came up with a brilliant idea: The House should defund Obamacare in order to pay for bombing Syria.

“You could even take it to the issue of Syria. If the President wants to expend resources in going into Syria, maybe you should have to choose between funding Obamacare and funding a war in Syria, can’t do both.”

Or we could just not bomb Syria and pay for health care instead. Funny how the guy who claims to follow the “prince of peace,” who preached non-violence (“turn the other cheek”) and the importance of caring for the poor, would rather shoot Tomahawk missiles than help people get health care. And by funny, I of course mean appalling.

Usually the question of butter or bullets is a little bit more abstract.

I remember a parody article suggesting just this. It took a while to figure out it actually was a parody because as the Liar Tony Perkins proves it’s a very realistic parody.

Jim Jordan nearly shit himself when Perkins put it so bluntly.

Would he support defunding Obamacare to pay for the orderly collection, inventorying and destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons, if the deal currently under discussion goes through?

And, more to the point, would he support any defunding of HIS OWN health-insurance for the same goal?

IF OBAMA WASNT SUCH AN IMPERIOUS DESPOT WHO WANTS IT ALL, LIKE MILD REFORMS PROPPING UP A FUNDAMENTALLY BROKEN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND A MILD, INEFFECTIVE STRIKE AGAINST SYRIA, AND HE WAS A REAL LEADERS HED GO TO CONGRESS AND OFFER TO SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE: BOMB SYRIA WITH SICK, POOR PEOPLE!

We are being fiscally irresponsible, so take that money from the socialist enterprise we don’t like and spend it on military action. Because then the money will magically not have been spent. Also, the military is totally not socialist.

Clearly what we ought to do is fully fund Obamacare and then send the Death Panels to Syria.

Using Tea Party logic, perhaps Perkins would be happy if Obama just forced Assad to set up a health insurance exchange and fully fund Medicaid in Syria. Would he not then conclude that the country would be set on a path of self-destruction which would pale in comparison to a bombing campaign?

The way to end the Syria crisis is to send Tony Perkins, Scott LIvely, and their buddies to Syria with a box of megaphones. After a few hours of hearing those egotistical fools all sides will agree to whatever the UN demands.

Legislators should be the last people to get health insurance. When the last group is insured, include the legislators–to the same levels. That would fix the problem. A friend once went to the doctor and found our Prime Minister in the waiting room, too.

I suggest de-funding the wars to pay for universal healthcare like every other civilized country has.

I seem to recall an Eisenhower quote about stealing from those who are hungry and not fed. Is Perkins taking it as a suggestion?

But, Ed, you’re completely ignoring Jesus’s miracle of the seven missiles and the drone that killed five thousand Middle Easterners.

    let’s face it.

If it was JUST crazy right winger news articles, and Mo’s comments on them, I would still come here.

…or end up joining forces to try and kill every homosexual person then can find.

nope, too dangerous, even in jest.

best we keep those goons locked up in the US asylum.

    wait… they’re NOT locked up?

    uh oh.

It’s too bad we haven’t had an election since then. It sure would be great to know whether the voters preferred Obama or a Republican.
