Pastor Terry Jones’ plan to burn 3000 copies of the Quran on 9/11 was thwarted when police pulled him over and arrested him for illegal conveying of fuel (he had soaked them in kerosene and was driving down the road with them and more kerosene in a truck). And Bryan Fischer says that makes Jones just like Jesus and the police just like the Pharisees.
I’ve defended the free speech rights of Terry Jones repeatedly. I don’t know if this was done to quash his free speech or not. I can certainly see the argument for why you shouldn’t be allowed to drive down the street with books soaked in kerosene in the bed of your pickup truck; the dangers in case of an accident seem pretty obvious. I do think he has a right to burn them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he can legally transport them in that manner. Either way, the comparison to Jesus is pretty idiotic.
