Palin: Unnamed Gay People Are On My Side

Sarah Palin continued her tour of the Fox News shows to wax ignorant about the Duck Dynasty douchebag’s bigoted comments, appearing on Sean Hannity’s show to invoke an unnamed and, I’m guessing, imaginary friend “who happens to be gay” and supports her position:

In an interview last week with Fox News, Palin pointed a finger at the network for suspending Robertson and described an email conversation she had with a friend of hers “who happens to be gay.”

“She emailed me to say she is outraged at A&E for the hypocrisy here, for the things that they air on their program that she finds offensive, yet A&E doesn’t fire a star or somebody involved in their programming based on what they said but they would when it comes to Phil on Duck Dynasty and this friend, she said that she would boycott A&E and that network, and uh, um, she’s not the only one,” Palin said.

Funny how that anonymous, allegedly gay friend doesn’t seem to recognize the blatant hypocrisy of Palin’s position. When it was Martin Bashir a couple weeks earlier saying something mean about her, she demanded his head and, when he was fired, said nary a word about the First Amendment.

About Ed Brayton

After spending several years touring the country as a stand up comedian, Ed Brayton tired of explaining his jokes to small groups of dazed illiterates and turned to writing as the most common outlet for the voices in his head. He has appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show and the Thom Hartmann Show, and is almost certain that he is the only person ever to make fun of Chuck Norris on C-SPAN.

    Boring.

I’m waiting for an unnamed duck to put its seven cents worth in supporting Phil Robertson.

  • dan4

Bashir resigned. He wasn’t fired (he should have been, though).

So where’s the unknown black person to tell her that Robertson’s comments about black people happy to be working in the cotton fields really wasn’t so racist.

Funny how the wingnuts are so up-in-arms about the DD affair focus on the gay-bashing line but ignore the blatantly racist comment he also made in the same interview.

Is this anything like the old usenet claim, “The lurkers support me in e-mail”?

Oh, please! I just had an email conversation with a friend of friend of mine who happens to be black…

And my friend who happens to be a 15 year old girl who doesn’t think it’s wrong to expect her to pluck ducks.

…conversation she had with a friend of hers “who happens to be gay.”

I’m sure her friend is gay. Isn’t everyone gay and merry around the holidays?

  • rabbitscribe

A conservative Tea Party Republican friend of mine just called to say he was completely disgusted with the softball interview that never even mentioned Bashir, even though the comparison is obvious. He’s boycotting Fox and turning gay himself, and he’s not alone.

What the hell is she doing with a gay friend? Doesn’t she listen to Pat Robertson. That “gay” “friend” just might turn Truck or Bristle or that other kid she has that is named after a tree gay? What is she thinking? Is she thinking? Can she think?

  • Doug Little

Well being gay doesn’t preclude you from being an ignorant fool. I’m sure they are out there, somewhere. I don’t know of anybody personally but anecdotal evidence doesn’t really say much… oh wait.

    Erik Rush?

  • tuibguy

She says “Just happens to be gay,” because, like she wouldn’t actually seek out someone who is gay to be a friend. She just makes friends easy because she is so “Oh, shucks,” and easy to chat with out on the fishin’ boat that she has friends of all kinds – blacks, gays, maybe even some of them Inuits that are all over Alaska don’chaknow. So, of course she has at least one gay friend and that friend is free to speak for all of the gays that they shouldn’t be offended. Neither should blacks because underneath they know that what Mr. Phil says about the Old South is the truth and that the liberals just foisted civil rights on them to get votes.

    It’s all so clear.

  • yoav

    “who happens to be gay.”

On fix noise shouldn’t it be “Who made a choice to be gay after watching an episode of Will & Grace after the librul atheists have left her defenceless in the face of the gay awesomeness by throwing jeezus out of the public schools and banning christmass”.

    “…just happens to be gay.”.

    Can. Not. Happen.

teh GAY is a LIFESTYLE choice and I’m shocked that the queen of the Wasillabillies would get anywhere near someone who chooses to offend GOD!

Was Sarah referring to Marcus B?
