Wingnuts Can Find Outrage and Conspiracy Anywhere

There appear to be no boundaries at all to the Obama Derangement Syndrome on the right in this country. A few weeks ago President Obama said in an interview that his family might live in Washington DC for a couple years after he leaves the White House so his daughter could graduate from the school she’s been at for many years:

In an interview this week with Barbara Walters of ABC News, Obama and the first lady, Michelle, said they may live in Washington beyond their time in the White House to allow their younger daughter, Sasha, to graduate from Sidwell Friends School.

Sasha would be a high school sophomore at the end of the president’s second term, giving the family a couple years to enjoy, or endure, Washington as private citizens.

“We gotta make sure that she’s doing well . . . until she goes off to college,” Obama told Walters, according to an advance transcript of the interview, which aired Friday night. “Sasha will have a big say in where we are.”

If anyone else said this, it would be lauded as an example of family values (real ones, not the anti-gay variety). But since it’s Obama, it’s all part of a conspiracy:

Will President Obama be treated as if he’s still running America even after his term expires?

The answer is a guaranteed yes, according to Rush Limbaugh, the nation’s most-listened-to radio broadcaster…

“But Obama says he is going to stay in Washington. Can you guess why that might be?”

Limbaugh speculated Obama wants to “stay in town to make sure that whatever he accomplishes is not unwound.”

As an example, Limbaugh said if a Republican is elected in 2016 and says certain aspects of Obamacare were sought to be dismantled, “Obama is going to call the media, and he’s going to go on TV as though he’s still president, and the media will treat him that way.

“He is going to stay there to make sure that whatever he’s done to remake this country is not changed, is not unwound,” Limbaugh added…

Limbaugh warned his audience to “prepare” for this eventuality, which will pose a particular challenge on the new president, no matter what party he or she belongs to.

“Do not doubt me on this,” Limbaugh concluded. “I know these people. I know how they think. … [Obama will] have a satellite administration in exile.”

There simply is no end to how ridiculous they can be. None whatsoever.

“Now I’m not racist but the only explanation I can think of for him to stay is so he can smoke drugs, steal VCRs, ogle at the white women, and collect free handouts to buy t-bone steaks and Cadillacs. Isn’t that obvious? I mean, just look at him!”, Rush also did not say. (at least not out loud) (this time)

Wingnuts Can Find Outrage and Conspiracy Anywhere

Yeah, and this is why I always wonder why they feel they have to make up completely new things all the time when they have shown that they can be just as frightened and outraged over actual things.

Obama is going to call the media, and he’s going to go on TV as though he’s still president, and the media will treat him that way.

Is Rush aware that Obama doesn’t have to be in Washington to do this? He could even do it from Wasilla. In fact, I’ve heard that the best place to get access to the media is in New York. You know, the place where Bill Clinton has had an office for the past 13 years so he could control the world.

Because, of course, he can’t call the media from Chicago!

I think it has become a strategy. If ridiculous is what your target audience wants, give it to ’em.

I wish we could generate electricity from the spin. Had Obama said he was going some where out of the way they would have taken that as code for he was going to Elba like Napoleon to plot his take over.

I am starting to think Rush might be back on the painkillers again.

Doncha’ know that Obama is just spilling the beans that he doesn’t expect that there will be an election in 2016. His nefarious plans will be put into fruition by his corps of thugs armed with the millions of firearms confiscated from the Reel-Uh-Merrikuns. He ain’t goin’ anywhere and you’re goin’ to like it.

    or

Maybe he’s going to convince Michelle to run.

  • a miasma of incandescent plasma

Yeah, and I bet he’s even referred to as Mr. President instead of Mr Hussein Obummer!!lL!))

    That dang media! So biased!

  • D. C. Sessions

It’s an improvement over the others who insist that he will cancel the election or otherwise stay on as President.

Leaving aside that there’s no reason to think the wingnut scenario is true, did I miss the part where someone explained what would be wrong with it if it were?

WND: “He is going to stay there to make sure that whatever he’s done to remake this country is not changed, is not unwound,” Limbaugh added… (Emphasis added.)

Limbaugh must be slipping; he forgot to say “destroy.”

  • roggg

Rush will say whatever riles up the base. I dont think he strives for any connection with realtiy or even plausibility. That’s what far right punditry is all about. Shaking the hornet nests.

This may well be true if “the media” means right-wing media like Limbaugh and WND.

Good ol’ Rush Hindenburg, never disappoints.

  • Larry

Because, as you know, ex-Presidents play a significant role in the actual running of the government once they’ve left office. Witness George Bush with his paintings of himself in a bathtub, Jimmy Carter building houses, and Gerald Ford doing whatever the fuck he did once he left.

@roggg: Shaking a hornet’s nest is dangerous. This is more like shoving a stick in an anthill.

roggg, exactly. Someone above asked don’t the wingnuts have enough real stuff to be afraid of, why do they have to make up new fake stuff all the time? This misses the point of what Rush is all about.

Rush is on the radio every weekday. His job is to stir the shit and keep the rubes listening and outraged each and every day. This is how he does it, by spinning the day’s news stories, whatever they happen to be, into whatever will most keep the rubes crazy and hating on Obama, Democrats, liberals, gays, etc.

This is why Rush gets higher numbers than the other right wing kooks on the radio, because he is always able to work up his bullshit on an ad lib basis out of the very latest current events, each and every day. The sad truth is that Rush is an evil genius at this.

Mr Limbaugh assumes Mr Obama will live in Washington DC because that city is the only one in the USA with newspaper offices, television and radio stations, journalist bloggers, and the InterNet. Nowhere else is that mix of media available to politicians. As history shows, in 1800 the nation’s capital was moved from New York City to Washington, DC. NYC didn’t have television stations at that time.

OH MY GOD! This means Woodrow Wilson has been secretly ruling the country for nearly a century from beyond the grave!
