‘Ex-Gay’: I’m a Threat to Satan

Janet Boynes, Michele Bachmann’s favorite “ex-gay” activist, went on the Steve Deace show and said that homosexuality is really all about a huge battle between God and Satan and that Satan is attacking her because she’s such a threat to his side of that battle.

“There’s a spiritual conflict that is waging war around all of us and it’s a battle between forces, you’ve got good and evil and you’ve got light and darkness. You have to believe that it’s affecting my generation, it’s affecting our future and it’s affecting everybody all around the world whether you believe in same-sex marriage, homosexuality or you don’t believe in it,” she said.

“The enemy knows who we are and that we all are destined to greatness, and I pose a threat, those of us who have left this life and have walked out successfully — for me it’s been sixteen years — I pose a threat to his game plan so I always say the devil should’ve killed me when he had the chance and I’m a force to be reckoned with.”

She went on to chide Ellen DeGeneres, Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon, Robin Roberts and Oprah Winfrey for “spreading the filth that homosexuality is not only relevant for today but these men and women were born that way, and that’s not so.”

Wait, the devil can kill people?

    It’s all about you, Janet.

You have to wonder just how strong God really is, given that His Divine Plan is so easily disrupted by The Enemy.

  • sh3baproject

doesnt the devil need permission from god to do evil? he had to when he was messing with job. and these people make the devil appear to not need permission.

read your bible before you pull out shit from your ass.

The enemy knows who we are and that we all are destined to greatness, and I pose a threat

I smell a life of failure. Someone who was sold the American dream, and refuses to believe it was all a lie, even though she never became that fairy princess she dreamed of being when she was five.

there are countless millions just like her.

It can’t be that life doesn’t come with guarantees… no, the American way is to find someone, or something, to blame for it all.

grow the fuck up America. really.

Gregory, apparently God’s battle plans are as subject as any other general’s to the maxim of Helmuth von Moltke who wrote that no military plan survives contact with the enemy.

Although to hear Christians tell it, God’s battle plans are in complete disarray and his troops are experiencing a total rout by the forces of Satan. I’m beginning to think that when Christians say ‘God has a plan’ they mean Plan XVII.

  • tsig

It’s plan nine from outer space otherwise known as Armageddon.

Janet Boynes and the rest of her ex-gay-satan-fighter confederates strike me as people paid to role play parts in the fundies’ fetishes. They may not being wearing leather or latex or some school girls’ plaid skirt, but they are playing the same role for the fundies’ particular, um, gratification.

“There’s a spiritual conflict that is waging war around all of us and it’s a battle between forces, you’ve got good and evil and you’ve got light and darkness.

This is half true. It has nothing to do with spirits though.

There is and always has been a battle between light and darkness.

Janet Boynes, Michele Bachmann, and the fundie xians are on the side of darkness.

Fundie xians own the Dark Side of our society. They own the Dark Side of Xianity.

  • raven

I”ve never been able to tell the difference between fundie xianity and satanism. There isn’t much.

    1. Fundie xianity based on hate check.

    2. Fundie xianity based on lies check

    3. Fundie xianity worship a monster god check

    4. Fundie xianity practices human child sacrifice by medical neglect and torture murder check

The only difference is that satanists almost don’t exist whereas fundie xians definitely exist by the millions.

This argument by Boynes is one of the reasons why the notion of God is so laughable.

First, she believes being gay is wrong, therefore you can’t naturally be gay because “God” wouldn’t make you gay, he hates gay, you must “choose” to be gay. That, of course, ignores the evidence and the question, why would someone choose to subject themselves to the horrible treatment that homosexuals have been the victims of for centuries? The equally obvious follow up question, “when did you choose to be straight?” is also generally ignored (apparently not in her specific case. In addition, it also ignores the passages in their magic book that tells them to love each other, etc., which I suppose is rather convenient when you’re creeped out by something and just “need” to hate.

Added to that bit of mental gymnastics, you have “Satan.” First of all, “God” is all powerful, therefore “God” must want “Satan” to exist, otherwise “He” could simply eliminate “Satan” (much like “He” did with just about anyone “He” didn’t like in the Old Testament) or at least eliminate his “powers.” Instead “Satan” is still lurking about, gumming up the works, pitching folks into eternal damnation to thwart this allegedly “loving God.” Add in the fact that “God’s” Word is so convoluted and full of errors and contradictions and you end up with a logical conclusion that there is no “God” or, you end up with a “God” who is either so powerless as to be meaningless, or such an evil entity that only a madman or a fool would worship “Him.”

It makes much more sense if you replace “gay” with “fundie xian”.

You do choose your religion but you don’t really choose your sexual orientation. And benign gods, if they existed would be horrified by Janet Boynes and the fundies.

It’s funny how Satan, like God, never actually comes out into the open. He is supposedly doing all this stuff, yet he never takes responsibility for it, or tries to use his supposed successes to openly recruit. It’s almost like he doesn’t exist….

Of course if you believe the Rapture crowd Satan is nothing but a robot. After all they have this elaborate, blow by blow timeline of how Jesus will return and Satan will be defeated. Yet Satan, who has had 2 some millennia to find out his plan has been discovered, and a counteroffensive has been planned, hasn’t come up with a new plan. He’s going to do exactly everything that is required for him to utterly fail at his goal of…whatever the hell his goal actually is.

I always feel a twinge of vicarious embarrassment when I hear this kind of self-aggrandising bullshit. She can’t just be an ordinary person who is trying to do the right thing and make the best job of her life… no, she has to be a brave hero battling supernatural forces and the Final Boss himself. It always makes me suspect that the speaker feels a lack of real achievement in their life, and over-compensates. I’m uncomfortable with that glimpse of their inner life.

    Also, this:

those of us who have left this life and have walked out successfully — for me it’s been sixteen years

Doesn’t that sound like an ex-alcoholic? Doesn’t it sound like she fears she could fall off the straightness wagon at any time? This “gay cure” can’t be very effective!

  • tbp1

    Wow, delusions of grandeur, much?

Actually, as one of the billions of people that most other people don’t know exist, I get it that people like to think they are more important than they actually are sometimes, but most of us manage to keep it in check a little better than this.

it’s a battle between forces, you’ve got good and evil and you’ve got light and darkness

The trick has always been to know to know which is which. Even Torquemada thought he was on the side of the angels.

And since both sides are alleged to be liars, how do you know which is which?

“…those of us who have left this life and have walked out successfully — for me it’s been sixteen years…”

Celibate lesbian, deluded bisexual, youthful experimenter or abject liar? Who knows? I wouldn’t care but for their ability to mislead the credulous and gullible (and those people vote).

  • busterggi

I don’t believe in Satan but if I did I’d like to think he would hang around with a better type of person than Boynes.

  • lordshipmayhem

A threat to Šatan? She’s not even fit to lace up his skates. Can’t handle the puck. Can’t pass. Can’t stand up on skates.

She’s a threat to the Zamboni if it runs over her. Might gum up the works.

Sounds like Marcus had better start putting out if he wants to earn enough brownie points to catch up.

dogmeat speaks for me. The asserted nature of the biblical god is incoherent, even when using sophomoric thinking skills. I know since that was my rudimentary level of thinking as a teen when I concluded this for myself.
