LaBarbera: The Gay Will Destroy America!

Peter LaBarbera and the American Family Association’s “news” outlet, OneNewsNow, are quite upset about a National Park Service plan to make national landmarks out of a few sites that played a big historical role in the fight for LGBT equality. In fact, they think it’s going to destroy America. Of course.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality weighs in.

“We’re going to teach our kids and our citizens that homosexuality is a civil rights issue when it’s not,” he laments. “It’s a human misbehavior issue. It’s just a sin movement – and we’re elevating it to civil rights icon status.”

“I fear for our country, because when a nation starts celebrating sexual immorality as the norm and as a social good, then that nation cannot survive in the long run,” he explains. “Every other civilization has been brought down for sexual immorality as part of the factors bringing it down, and I think the United States of America will not be an exception in that regard.”

LaBarbera adds the homosexual lobby is so powerful, it can push for something – such as the Park Service policy – and it’s a done deal before most Americans even know about it, such as the Harvey Milk commemorative postage stamp.

Oh yes, gay people just have so much political power in this country. How many openly gay members of Congress are there? One or two. How many Christians are there? The overwhelming majority of them.

It’s just a sin movement – and we’re elevating it to civil rights icon status.”

Yup, that’s the plan. Just like we’ve elevated taking the lord’s name in vain (free speech) and having other gods before Yahweh (religious freedom) to iconic rights status, liberals want to elevate the fair and equal government treatment of all citizens – regardless of race, sex, religious belief, sexual preference, and so on – to iconic rights status.

I don’t imagine The Peter by any chance gave a timeline, did he?

    No?

Pity. Not that he would have covered the bet anyway.

When did the United States become a civilization?

  • dugglebogey

Take out the word “homosexuality” and insert the word “racial integration” and it’s just like going back in time!

If the gay can destroy America, that’s all the more reason to support them.

  • Synfandel

And when did it become so fragile that every day something new is about to ‘destroy’ it?

“Every other civilization has been brought down for sexual immorality as part of the factors bringing it down, and I think the United States of America will not be an exception in that regard.”

And which civilizations would those be exactly?

How many Christians are there? The overwhelming majority of them.

“Well, there are REAL Christians and people who call themselves that…”

“If we don’t get our way, the Republic will surely fall!” has been an effective fund-raiser for these slimy grifters so long, why would they even think of changing?

A fella knows where his bread is buttered, especially an American fella.

To be fair, it is pretty bad. My grandpa licked one of those Milk stamps and now he’s a gay homosexual.

“Every other civilization has been brought down for sexual immorality as part of the factors bringing it down, and I think the United States of America will not be an exception in that regard.”

Way to go out on a limb… because as we all well know, all civilizations last forever.

    rationalinks @7:

And which civilizations would those be exactly?

I am guessing that Porno Pete* would take a page from the Palin playbook and just say “All of ’em.” It turns out history is a lot easier when you don’t get bogged down in those pesky details like demonstrating causality and whatnot and instead just make sweeping, unsupported assertions.

*As he’s affectionately known thanks to his penchant for gay pornography “research” and going to gay erotica events and filming things to demonstrate how perverse we all are.

“We’re going to teach our kids and our citizens that homosexuality is a civil rights issue when it’s not,” he laments. “It’s a human misbehavior issue.

But, of course, not being a Christian (or even the right sort of Christian) is a “human misbehavior issue,” isn’t it? But a choice of religions is a civil rights issue … isn’t it? Perhaps not to Talibangeleicals, come to think of it.

LaBarbera is absolutely correct, for some versions of “America”. And that’s a good thing. Fifty years ago he’d have been saying the same thing about equality for “coloreds”. That version of America isn’t quite gone, but it’s much diminished.

“Every other civilization has been brought down for [sic] sexual immorality as part [sic] of the factors bringing it down, and I think the United States of America will not be an exception in that regard”.*

Is English this guy’s third language?

    ——-

    Try something like:

‘Sexual immorality has been one of the factors that have lead other civilizations to have been brought down. I think the United States of America will be no exception in this regard’.

Still ahistoric nonsense, but at least it’s (somewhat) grammatically closer to actual English.

  • matty1

I find the term collapse of civilization to be vague to the point of uselessness. Even people trying to talk sensibly about it lump together very different scenarios like the abandonment of classic Maya cities and the conquest of the western Roman Empire by multiple nations of ‘barbarians’*.

Until you can give me a definition of what counts as a civilization (as opposed to a political unit within one) and what counts as a collapse I see no point in talking about the causes.

*The Empire as a nation survived in the eastern Mediterranean until 1453 but for some reason everyone treats the Byzantine period as something separate, possibly because it would spoil the ‘collapse’ narrative.

    Modus:

To be fair, it is pretty bad. My grandpa licked one of those Milk stamps and now he’s a gay homosexual.

Oh its worse than that. My friend licked one of those Milk stamps the other day and it turned her into a lesbian 30 years ago.

  • =8)-DX

Another lament at the fact that every civilisation has always had to be dragged kicking and screaming another century down the road (the good thing with roads is you can keep going down them without ).

And it’s even worse than that: soon we’re going to be teaching our kids that homosexuality is a completely normal part of reality and everyday life in society. And soon we’re going to be teaching about the LGBTQ civil rights movement as history!

    @6, Synfandel,

And when did it become so fragile that every day something new is about to ‘destroy’ it?

Since they realized that they were running around with wallets that were a little light, mostly.

It’s a great fundraising tool, they never stop falling for it, the unending war with Satan and all that.
