Kincaid: Vegas Shootings Caused by The Pot

Cliff Kincaid of the badly misnamed Accuracy in Media is one of the most consistently ridiculous voices on the right and he proves it yet again with a column declaring that the sole and only cause of the shootings of two police officers and a civilian in Las Vegas was — drumroll, please — marijuana.

Miller’s notion of “Big Government” was a government that interfered with his marijuana smoking. A simple search of stories about his background revealed a series of confrontations with law enforcement over his drug habits…

Miller was a doper whose “anti-government” philosophy stemmed from his hatred of the police for arresting him for violating the drug laws. You don’t need to be a forensic scientist to figure this case out.

Is there any evidence that Miller was a conservative activist or followed the philosophy of the Heritage Foundation or other conservative groups? Absolutely not. In fact, the Heritage Foundation opposes the legalization of marijuana.

“Jerad Miller’s anti-government frenzy was whipped up by the extreme right-wing echo chamber,” Avlon claimed. Then why do the “likes” on his Facebook page include so many pro-marijuana groups? Legal dope has been accepted by some libertarians, most notably at the Cato Institute, but it has been a left-wing cause for decades, mostly funded for the last decade or so by hedge-fund operator George Soros…

The liberals would prefer to focus on the guns, not the drugs.

Miller is a classic case of a pothead, possibly with paranoid or psychotic tendencies. In a post on an Alex Jones website, Miller wrote, “I stand at a point in my life where I am on probation for selling marijuana. I take urine screens frequently and I am forced to take drug classes I do not need. Before I got arrested I had 2 jobs and was selling weed to my friends and family on the side. Now I cannot find a job.”

He had only himself to blame.

Miller wrote a post on May 13, 2013, after having to answer for a drug violation.

“Mark one up for freedom today,” he said. “I stood before a fascist judge today and implied that he was a Nazi. I told him I did not recognize his authority over me and reminded him that 2 states now have legalized weed for recreational use. I also informed him that now, since the fast and furious scandal, that continuing the war on drugs is treason. He said to me ‘I may not agree with the law, but it is my duty to enforce it.’ To which I replied ‘Nazis during the war criminal trials stated that they, were just following orders and enforcing the law, and we hung those people.’”

Hence, he was completely in favor of legalizing marijuana and perhaps other drugs. This puts him firmly on the “progressive” side of the political spectrum.

I love the smell of motivated reasoning in the morning. Seriously Cliff, smoke a joint, relax and shut the fuck up.

    Aaaah, a psychological diagnosis using 2 terms that psychologists don’t even use anymore. Guess who doesn’t know what he’s talking about?

    Of course, because we absolutely cannot admit that rightwinger could be capable of a mass shooting, so we have to concoct some reason to declare him a liberal. Anyone else see this coming from the moment Miller first pulled the trigger.

    If there was ever a classic example of a pothead, it’s The Dude.

    Fact, no true conservative would act out like Miller did. Fact, no conservative would use or advocate marijuana use. Therefore ipso facto, ergo and three other latin phrase we don’t understand Miller was not a conservative and this is just a media smear.

    Take one part No true Scotsman and mix liberally well with the best of Reefer Madness.

    Also, too, it will be fun to get a copy of the tox report if it becomes public, I’m guessing meth or crack is the drug most likely to show up–besides pot.

    Back in the 70’s there was some humor piece in Playboy (before women had vaginas or, even, pubic hair–true story) about a group of gummint scientists who had fed a rat the rattish equivalent of a “Square Grouper” of pot over some fairly short period of time and then euthanized him, pureed his brain and determined that it was the pot that killed him.

    I mean, I THINK it was a humor piece.

    In fact, the Heritage Foundation opposes the legalization of marijuana.

    The Libertarian Party supports the legalization of marijuana. Checkmate, Kincaid.

    The Dude: Oh, the usual. I bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.

    Incredible that he want this to be all about pot of all things.

    It does seem that a small contributing factor in the incident was the insane drug war policies that we have (perhaps if he’d not been on probation and still had his 2 jobs, he would have been too busy doing other things to go out and murder people), but to say that pot itself caused the incident is asinine in the extreme.

    I wonder if Kincaid looked at the Facebook page he mentions.

    From the Facebook page of Jerad Miller, patriot (Yes, it’s still up):

    * Fave music: Tool

    * Fave book: The Holy Bible

    * Fave movies: Fight Club; Warrior; Underworld

    * Fave TV: Dexter; Adam Kokesh

    * Fave game: Infinite Crisis

    Doesn’t sound like the page of a pothead to me.

    Yep. That’s the life. There’s nothing quite like coming home from a hard day’s work, sparking a fattie and planning the violent overthrow of the government through armed insurrection and the murder of innocents. Totally logical.

    “Is there any evidence that Miller was a conservative activist”

    You mean besides his own words and actions? Well if we can discount those…

    Aside from his Facebook “like” of the Heritage Foundation, along with American Patriot Media Network, Support the 2nd Amendment, The Patriot Party, Rand Paul 2016, Ron Paul, the Washington Examiner, Draft Judge Andrew Napolitano, FreedomWorks, American Crossroads, and Allen West…. but his “like” for the “Legalize Weed” group makes him a liberal.

    Who can forget the bloodbath of the sixties, as much as we would like to? The thousands killed in Woodstock, the incessant violence of public parks, where the screams of victims would be silenced by the deafening strumming of guitars, the frequent wild-eyed hitchhiker, blood still dripping from his hands after the last pickup, the hippie chicks dressed in black leather and butcher aprons. Tiny Tim, Professor Irwin Cory, and the gang simply known as “The Animals” still give me nightmares. (shudder)

    Yes.. Alex Jones tried the “false flag” option, and I expect the other two dodges I mention have also been trundled out, though I haven’t yet seen them.
