Victoria Jackson is running for the county commission in Williamson County, Tennessee and she’s got a commercial out that declares her a “serious-minded person.” So says a virtually anonymous songwriter. It’s every bit as stupid as one would predict.

    Poor Victoria. Against the background of SNL her craziness came across as simple comic zaniness. In the “real world,” well, not so much. She seems completely ignorant of how addled she seems to sensible folk.

    Probably another case of wingnuts who claim to revere the Constitution while having less than no clue what it actually says.

    My rule of thumb: If I hear somebody fulminating about THE CONSTITUTION, I ask him to enumerate and briefly describe each of the articles in the Bill of Rights. If he can’t get at least 5 out of 10 right, then I conclude he’s just bafflegabbing.

    Reminds me of the time when Nixon nominated G. Harrold Carswell to the Supreme Court. In response to charges that Carswell was mediocre, Nebraska Senator Roman Hruska was quoted as saying “Even if he were mediocre, there are a lot of mediocre judges and people and lawyers. They are entitled to a little representation, aren’t they, and a little chance? We can’t have all Brandeises, Frankfurters and Cardozos”. Interestingly enough, several years later, Carswell was arrested for soliciting sex in a men’s room.

    Aside from stupidity of the statement, it was pointed out that the 3 Supreme Court Justices that Hruska named were Jewish, with the implication of antisemitism on his part.

    The first thing I thought when I this video started was, why would I vote for someone who is to stupid to even get a tripod?

    So, after hearing that the book was dedicated to… LUCIFER… I had to get my copy off the shelf and check.

    The dedication page reads, “To Irene.”

    (There is a later quote in which Alinsky gives an “over-the-shoulder acknowledgment” to Lucifer as the “very first radical.”)

    Lucifer would have been great, though.

    It’s hard to explain Victoria Jackson’s behavior. I see only two reasonable explanations.

    One is that she’s doing a Poe where she’s in on the joke.

    The other is that she’s a true believer who is also consciously trying to be the most outlandish Liar for Jesus® ever. Where she’s aware of how well-informed reasonable people react to her.
