Kim Jong Un Doesn’t Like to Be Mocked

When he’s not being a murderous thug, Kim Jong-Un of North Korea is kinda cute, especially when he balls up his little fists and stomps his feet in rage. And he seems to be none too happy about a new Seth Rogen movie that makes fun of him.

The government of North Korea is not pleased with Seth Rogen’s upcoming film The Interview, calling it a “wanton act of terror.”…

The North Korean government has promised a “merciless” retaliation against the United States if The Interview is released, calling the film an “act of war.” In a statement published by the state-run KCNA news agency, a spokesman said the film is the work of “gangster moviemakers” and is a “wanton act of terror.”

“The act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership… is a most wanton act of terror and act of war, and is absolutely intolerable,” the spokesman said, according to AFP.

Rogen says he just hopes the pint-sized dictator likes the movie. The rest of us will await that “merciless” retaliation. Maybe we can send over Dennis Rodman again. And hope he keeps him this time.

Go away, silly North Korean person, or we will taunt you again.

  • iangould

Hey. you know what’d be fun: let’s assume that Kim Jong-Un is representative of all atheists and judge them accordingly.

I mean, we do it here often enough with Muslims and Christians.

  • caseloweraz

In other news, Kim Jung Un celebrated the arrival in North Korea of the 2013 movie White House Down and announced his plans to invade the now leaderless USA.

I wonder what he made of “Team America: World Police”?

The cutest widdle evil despot in history. Maybe. But nah.

If only it wasn’t for the utter torment and misery the North Korean people are enduring under this guy’s horrid rule, he would be a laughable lil’ cutie.

As it is, he’s a ronely, dementedly evil, scumbag piece of shit.

  • Synfandel

Dear Leader, who controls everything in his country down to hair styles, doesn’t grok that Seth Rogen and the United States are not the same thing and that the United States government has almost no control at all over what the movie industry decides to portray. Freedom is an alien concept to him and, ironically, he doesn’t appear to know the meaning of the word terrorism.

  • dogmeat

To be fair, Seth Rogan movies are pretty crappy. One could go so far as to argue a crime against humanity… or at least a crime against intelligence. ;o)

Don’t do this shit. If you want to mock an immature tyrant, mock him for his immaturity and tyranny. Don’t use a lazy, racist stereotype that mocks him for being Asian. Whatever you’re point you’re trying to get across, what you’re succeeding at is, “East Asians talk funny and suck at English, LOL!” (And yes, I know the source of what you’re referencing, and no, it doesn’t change the fact that this is racist.)

Kim Jong Un Doesn’t Like to Be Mocked

Of course he doesn’t like to me mocked: mocking a despot is akin to tell him “I despise you more than I fear you“, and the last thing any tyrant want is to be surrounded by people who do not fear him.

  • abear

Kim Jong Un has NO sense of humor.

Proof positive he is Social Justice Warrior.

  • busterggi

    Deities always hate being mocked.

For some reason, I just can’t bring myself to fear the “awesome” military might (snicker, snicker) of North Korea.

  • Tony! The Queer Shoop

If he doesn’t want to be mocked, he should stop being such a repressive asshole.

You should. He’s got over a million active duty soldiers, 5th in the world according to Wikipedia, and many hundreds of tanks, missiles, and artillery pieces. If he decides to start something, and he’s probably crazy enough to do so, he’ll lose in the end but many thousands will die.

What gives you the erroneous idea that Kim Jong Un is an atheist? He believes his dad is a god and deserving of worship. He is specifically no atheist.

Furthermore, pointing out the follies of some muslims and christians does not in any way suggest they are representative of all such believers. Please link to specific instances where you think this happened, or quite trolling.

You should. He’s got over a million active duty soldiers…

He’s got over a million starving men who will most likely desert the nanosecond they get the chance.

…and many hundreds of tanks, missiles, and artillery pieces.

You mean cheap Chinese knock-offs of Russian equipment that was obsolete 40-50 years ago.

Yeah, I’m quaking in my boots.

  • Trebuchet

@17: Seriously? Those weapons may not be F-35’s, but they’re just as deadly as they were then. Seoul is in range of 700 artillery pieces. Those will take some time to knock out, especially as many are hidden in tunnels on the back side of mountains. Not cheap Chinese knockoffs either, but North Korean knockoffs. Which they export to evil regimes all over the world. Pretty much their only source of hard currency. And then there are chemical weapons. And possible nukes. Even a nuclear fizzle can cause havoc.

    @ StevoR

I want to second A.Noyd‘s comment at #8:

[StevoR] Don’t use a lazy, racist stereotype that mocks him for being Asian.

Please stop doing this. You keep saying the most horrible, violent and bigotted things all over FTB. To the extent that you create a toxic environment for other commentors. I know of at least one gentle person who has stopped commenting on these blogs because your abusive bigotry is somehow (fuck knows why!) tolerated on these blogs.

If you cannot stop yourself, then stop commenting.

  • lorn

Evidently the leader of NK has no problems with NK being depicted as bloodthirsty murderers and conniving terrorists who without provocation attack the white house, threatening the president of the united states by holding a gun to his head, and attempting to convert the US into a nuclear wasteland using our own weapons, as they were in the movie “Olympus Down” in 2013. But a Hollywood depiction of actions against NK … Off with their heads.

Isn’t it amazing that, in the 21st century, we humans still tolerate situations in which one human – selected by the randomness of birth – effectively owns millions of other humans? Really, why the fuck do we allow the creation of hierarchies of subjugation? How is this mere mortal able to sleep jn his eiderdown-quilted silk-sheeted bed, without someone doing themselves a favor and smothering him?

Hey, the internet is a tough place with no quarter asked or given. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I am attacked on many blogs and to me, it is water off a ducks back. I say bring it on.

Yes, but you enjoy it, so speak for yourself. It is water off your duck back.

It’s usually water off mine, too. But I don’t expect everyone in the world to be me. Because holy shit that would be terrifying.

and many hundreds of tanks, missiles, and artillery pieces

Are those the photoshopped ones or the real ones.

  • Doug Little

    lorn @20,

    Olympus Down

I see what you did there, the two movies were so similar why not. Just for reference they were “Olympus has Fallen” and “White House Down” I don’t think anybody really cares because they were just that good.

Of course he doesn’t like to me mocked: mocking a despot is akin to tell him “I despise you more than I fear you“, and the last thing any tyrant want is to be surrounded by people who do not fear him.

I think it’s worse than that. What mockery really does is say “You don’t deserve to be taken seriously”. If there’s one thing that despots and wannabe despots desire more than anything, it’s respect. Mockery sticks a knife right in the heart of that.

That’s why, for example, conservatives are so frustrated by Stephen Colbert’s wild success. He makes them look like fools and they literally have no response that doesn’t play right into his hands. (I mean, they could play along and engage in some self-deprecating humor, but then they wouldn’t be who they are.)

By the way, for anyone who wants an idea of just how fucked-up the Kim regime is, I cannot recommend this article strongly enough:

The North Korean military, according to most things I’ve read over the years are well-trained and equipped with reliable weapons. Whether their vaunted fanaticism and worship of “Dear Leader” would hold up under the threat of annihilation by the concerted efforts of numerous countries is something else, again–too many unknowns. They do NOT have any ability to transport large numbers of troops anywhere outside the Korean peninsula. They could invade South Korea and bring on a fight that would be exactly the excuse a number of parties would require to exterminate a substantial fraction of the population.

The current and two former dictators of North Korea are not dissimilar to many former rulers if Korea’s history is to be believed. Brutal, repressive regimes were not a rarity in their past.
