Dealing with grief as an atheist? You feel bad, you may sad bad words, even throw or break things. You might even ingest substances to dull the pain. Then you get over it and go on.

You spend no time at all questioning your god for letting it/causing it to happen. You don’t spend any time begging for it to not have happened. No time rationalizing or fantasizing about “a better place” or “for the best” or “it’s part of a plan.” And you don’t make your friends uncomfortable and having to reassure you that those things are true.

Shit happens. Get over it. It’s not about you.

Nothing to offer yet, though I might benefit from the stories of others, if the book comes out soon.
