Carl Jackson, one of the seemingly infinite number of Christian right radio hosts in existence, is quite agitated that anyone would dare to criticize former NFL coach Tony Dungy, another Christian righter himself. Because Christians are apparently untouchable and if you dare to criticize one, you are “crucifying” and “persecuting” them.
Make no mistake about it: Tony Dungy is being crucified by some of his colleagues in sports media not because they disagree with him, but like Tim Tebow, because of whom and what he represents – Christ, common sense, decency and objective truth. For immoral behavior to be accepted in any culture, moral behavior as well as the source of that moral behavior (Jesus Christ) must be demonized.
Crucified! They’re crucifying him, just like they did Jesus! I’m always amused to see a wingnut bigot complain about being demonized, especially when it comes to anything involving gay people. You want to see demonization? Look at what the Worldnetdaily and the entire Christian right says every day about gay people, that they’re demon-possessed pedophiles who are trying to, quite literally, destroy America, destroy civilization, destroy the entire world. That’s what demonization looks like. Tony Dungy is being criticized.
There’s a valuable lesson to be learned here. The left’s triune god, their “Untouchables” per se, consists of minorities, women and gays. The NFL is being successfully emasculated by the left as evidenced by their pink apparel, the exhortation of an openly gay male in an otherwise super masculine sport and now the demonization of a coach that epitomizes what it means to be a real man. Those of us that are Christian, conservatives or both should expect persecution. However, we can rest assured that even if we’re the only voice crying in the wilderness, we’re still right.
Uh, Carl…the pink apparel is worn once in a while to draw attention to breast cancer. If you really think that “emasculates” NFL players and makes them not “real men,” you’ve got some serious issues. And wouldn’t you love to see him tell the 6’2, 250 lb. mountain of muscle named Michael Sam that he just isn’t “masculine” enough for him?
