Very Disturbing Talk About Immigrants on Christian Radio

Minutemen founder Jim Gilchrist went on Vic Eliason’s Crosstalk radio show and they took a call from a woman who was both fact-challenged and fascist. She actually suggested that we put immigrants into a prison camp and gas them. Eliason said he didn’t think that we’re that kind of country, but Gilchrist sympathized with her and said he understood where she was coming from.

“We need to put them in a prison camp or a building and not give them any help, just lock them up with arms behind them, or otherwise we are going to put them in a building and gas them to death like they did in Germany, we can’t put up with this,” the caller said.

After host Vic Eliason chided the caller for her remarks, Gilchrist said he sympathized with her “angst” and “anger” at the “mob of illegal aleins.” He thanked the caller and commended her for sharing her beliefs, claiming that her call to kill the immigrants was simply a metaphor.

“I understand that lady’s angst and her resignation that we are no longer a nations of laws,” Gilchrist said. “She sees we are no longer a nation of laws.”

He continued: “Maybe the conduct du jour now is fight lawlessness with lawlessness, and if we are going to have a Congress and a president and a mob of illegal aliens who are going to snub their nose at the law, why can’t this lady feel the same way? I sense that is where her anger is coming from. She has no intention of putting anyone in prison, I think that was a metaphor. I commend her for coming forward with her feelings because I know what she is talking about. Thank you, ma’am.”

I love that part about her gassing being a metaphor. Jim, you do realize that a metaphor has to actually compare something, don’t you? What was the suggestion of a Nazi-like gassing of people a metaphor for? And of course, her entire premise was nonsensical. She claims they get free housing and food and health care (they don’t) <and that they “get all the jobs.” It can’t be both, lady.

I should also add that the Obama administration is following the law for all these child refugees. Federal law, signed by Bush, requires that those children be given an immigration hearing before a judge. They can’t be sent back immediately, as Gilchrist and the other right wingers demand. They are the ones who are demanding that the law be violated, while simultaneously blathering on about the importance of the rule of law.

And yet, when confronted with the charge of racism after saying something as evil as this, the conservative reflexively goes into full-on denial mode.

She claims they get free housing and food and health care (they don’t) that they “get all the jobs.” It can’t be both, lady.

Unfortunately, Ed, it can. All you need to understand this widespread belief is to realize that so-called “jobs” are a form of charity bestowed by the Job Creators on the peasantry. It’s like welfare, except that it’s more dignified because it doesn’t come from the Socialist State. And like welfare, there’s only so much to go around.

Think of the conservative understanding of “jobs” in the context of Hobby Lobby. It’s consistent.

And the obligatory: “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

    “like they did in Germany.”

Wow, someone who is flat out admitting to wanting to emulate Nazi Germany. I wonder whether this person denounces people they do not like as “Nazis.”

  • Kevin Kehres

You know who else followed the law when they gassed the Jews? The Nazis! That’s who!

    “I was just following orders”.

  • Chiroptera

What was the suggestion of a Nazi-like gassing of people a metaphor for?

I’m guessing that it was a metaphor for rounding up immigrants and gassing them.

I don’t think these people know what “metaphor” means.

    …but Obama’s the Nazi…

  • dugglebogey

If you are hosting a radio show and someone calls in recommending we put people in a building and gas them because of their race or origin, and you don’t IMMEDIATELY rebuke that person and deny any agreement with their position you are a HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING and I don’t even want to get started on calling yourself “christian.”

    Disgusting.

Somewhere a radio station needs its broadcasting license revoked.

Plastic surgery as political theater? Apparently I’ve been misreading boob jobs all these years…

    What would Jesus do?

He’d gas ’em all then he’d sort ’em out.

  • anubisprime

Not really a great surprise surely?

Gassing kids?…that does not even phase them, the suggestion would not even cause them to blink, and it didn’t, but instead it elicited support for that moron on live broadcast and without a shred of embarrassment.

They would probably over subscribe for the tickets offering a good viewing position.

Xtians like their zero to null solutions…”Kill ’em all and let god sort ’em out’ is their mantra after-all.

Such mendacious solutions are theirs by choice…National socialists were for the most part rather devout or proud of their version of jeebus…even Hitler, and very publicly.

So for a xtian to openly declare their trust in such draconian actions only confirms that if they could they would, it is to be expected that such abhorrent declarations to increase in number, if the Democrats win the next election they will probably be aired on Fox News quite openly, especially by the dominion fans, they are tired of dicking around and they will push harder then ever for theocracy to be the default state, with full theocratic rights on eradicating contra voices.

Same as burning folks to death for atheism, blasphemy and heresy, the brain dead would enthusiastically support it, most seemingly would want regular Crusades to be sanctioned by the government against whoever pisses them off!

This is the fundy Christian way, they deny it in secular company but even that masquerade is slipping, but no doubt they would support it if it occurred…no problem.

“…..mob of illegal aliens who are going to snub their nose at the law, why can’t this lady feel the same way?”

Because crossing a border illegally is just like gassing prisoners. I was just saying the other day, why can’t I run down jaywalkers in my car? They break the law, I break the law.

And, of course, when they are done with the immigrants, the question becomes, “Who’s next?”

  • magistramarla

There are militia groups on the border here in Texas with the same morals as this. I’m really worried that those rednecks are going to massacre some innocent children.

  • D. C. Sessions

Once you start looking in history for established solutions to problems, you can get some really satisfying ones.

For instance, Vlad Țepeș (one of the great Defenders of the Faith in the 15th Century) had a problem with too many poor people in Wallachia. So he fed them: he put on a great banquet for any who were hungry. Once the banquet was underway, he had the doors blocked and the building burned down. The povery rate plummeted.

I think that’s the kind of thing that the caller had in mind. Given the PoG’s general attitude towards the poor, they might want to adopt Vlad’s methods as a party plank. Oh, and he had some good ideas on dealing with criminals, too. Never a botched execution: stick the condemned on a sharpened stake and post him by the roadside.

  • raven

I’m really worried that those rednecks are going to massacre some innocent children.

Or some adults running the border. These kids are just walking up to the border agents and turning themselves in. AFAICT, they aren’t sneaking across the Rio Grande in the middle of the night and hopping a train for Chicago.

It’s a matter of time before the militias kill someone. They are all dressed up and need to go somewhere and do something.

raven “It’s a matter of time before the militias kill someone.”

Good luck catching them. There’s a reason why they have calves like cantaloupes.

  • skinnercitycyclist

Pierce R. Butler, I was going to comment on that too, but remember, to imagine thumbing your nose at someone usually means you yourself have to have the ol’ opposables in the first place…

Well let’s be fair: most of those involved in the implementation of the Holocaust were Christians.

I found it jarring to hear such odious words in a sweet elderly lady voice. Satan is truly a master of disguise 😉
