Cliven Bundy is On a Mission From God

I don’t think we really needed to hear Cliven Bundy say that he thinks he’s on a mission from God in refusing to pay the same grazing fees every other rancher does, since that always seems to be the case with such people. But he did come right out and say it:

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy claims the April confrontation between the federal government and his armed supporters was part of an age-old spiritual battle between good and evil.

Bundy, a Mormon, told an Independent American Party gathering in St. George, Utah, on Saturday that God provided him personal inspiration in the showdown over cattle in Bunkerville, Nevada, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

“The Lord told me … if (the local sheriff doesn’t) take away these arms from federal agents, we the people will have to face these arms in a civil war. He said, ‘This is your chance to straighten this thing up,'” Bundy said, according to The Spectrum of St. George (http://bit.ly/1pRx8nq )…

Bundy said people from across the country rallied around him because they were “spiritually touched,” and he suggested they would not have prevailed had God not been on their side.

“If the standoff with the Bundys was wrong, would the Lord have been with us?” he asked, noting no one was killed as tensions escalated. “Could those people that stood (with me) without fear and went through that spiritual experience … have done that without the Lord being there? No, they couldn’t.”

Logic? Who needs logic?

Huh. I would’ve thought these people would have found that disappointing.

  • rationalinks

Huh, and here I thought there was no one killed when tensions escalated because the Bundy traitors were using women and children as human shields and the BLM didn’t want to have a Ruby Ridge/Waco on their hands. No…musta been Jayzuz..

I wonder what Cliven will say when he is arrested for felony grand theft? He is just a common thief stealing from the rest of us.

“Oops, I was arrested. It must be god’s will and everything happens for a reason.”

“Bundy said people from across the country rallied around him because they were “touched”.” Fixed it for him.

Bundy, a Mormon, told an Independent American Party gathering in St. George, Utah, on Saturday that God provided him personal inspiration in the showdown over cattle in Bunkerville, Nevada …

Well color me unshocked. Mormons routinely stand up in their churches on Sunday and tell everyone how God personally provided them personal inspiration that week. That’s in addition to all the other occasions where Mormons are expected and encouraged to tell ever more instances and examples of God directly involving Himself in their lives, guiding them in everything from disaster assistance to where to find the recipe for potato salad their aunt gave them last summer. It’s all of a piece. Their lives are all one big astonishing tale of one sacred, faith-promoting episode after another as they take a major role in the cosmic battle between Good and Evil.

Yeah, there’s no way that convincing people that God constantly speaks to them in private — slipping them important messages and sending them on critical tasks — can go wrong. It would only humble you.

Could those people that stood (with me) without fear and went through that spiritual experience … have done that without the Lord being there? No, they couldn’t.

According to Bundy himself, making the Bundys of the US non-violently stand up for a principle wouldn’t be possible without the force of the all-powerful creator of the universe making them do it.

it seems a strange thing to admit.

    .

    No you didn’t.

    So god wants Cliven to be a welfare queen(1), a thief(2), a liar(3), and a traitor(4)?

    .

    1. Federal lands are leased to cattlemen for grazing at a fraction of the going price for private land.

    2. Yet Bundy hasn’t paid his bills for 20 years.

    3. He told his followers that his family has owned that ranch since the early 19th century. In fact, they bought it several years after he was born

    4. He’s a sovereign citizen, and claims he doesn’t recognize the federal government.
