Swanson’s Ridiculous Take on Non-Discrimination Laws

Kevin Swanson Generations Radio is not the sharpest bulb in the sign, that’s been obvious for a long, long time. But even by his standards, his recent rant against anti-discrimination laws was particularly idiotic. He seems to think that non-discrimination laws protect the right to kill people and rape children.

A lesbian couple shopping for wedding dresses are “not unlike serial killers walking into a trophy shop requesting a plaque that indicates the accomplishments of the serial killer,” Swanson said. He then warned that organizations like Toastmasters may be forced to give speeches honoring rapists or groups like NAMBLA may coerce Chuck E. Cheese restaurants into hosting “a party involving eight to twelve-year-old boys from Thailand.”

Jack added: “Maybe somebody comes in and they want to celebrate torturing puppies and they want it photographed by a photographer.”

Swanson added that gays want to punish and torture anyone who disagrees with them like the North Korean regime: “You want the kind of enthusiasm you get out of the North Korean crowds when the premier shows up, if anybody isn’t yelling and screaming then they’re going to be tortured. That’s the way homosexuals handle their homosexuality, once they’re out of the closet, if everybody isn’t enthusiastic, you better be yelling and screaming and bringing the party favors.”

How does someone this absurd get a following?

About Ed Brayton

After spending several years touring the country as a stand up comedian, Ed Brayton tired of explaining his jokes to small groups of dazed illiterates and turned to writing as the most common outlet for the voices in his head. He has appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show and the Thom Hartmann Show, and is almost certain that he is the only person ever to make fun of Chuck Norris on C-SPAN.

Quick question: Which has a history of coercing people into enthusiastically participating in their celebrations, homosexuals or organized religion?

  • D. C. Sessions

How does someone this absurd get a following?

    By validating their negative emotions.

Which has a history of coercing people into enthusiastically participating in their celebrations, homosexuals or organized religion?

You know that the homosexuals would if they could.

  • John Pieret

How does someone this absurd get a following?

Because there are (all too many) equally absurd people out there.

“Kevin Swanson Generations Radio is not the sharpest bulb in the sign…”

Nor is he the brightest knife in the drawer.

The worst is the Chinese Glitter Torture … where they tie you down and drop a piece of glitter on your forehead over and over again.

Oh noez the gaz are goin’ tu crush his balls and wither his penis.

  • Chiroptera

Well, he has a point. If a law is passed saying that a business must help accommodate someone torturing puppies, then that business will have to comply. In that sense, it’s exactly like non-discrimination against gay people. In fact, in that sense, it’s like every single law that’s on the books right now.

Me, I don’t quite see that as the essential point of the law or a good basis of comarison, but I don’t know what really goes on in the minds of rightwingers. Thinking about what goes on in the minds of rightwingers kind of scares me.

Or maybe, just maybe, and I know I’m going WAYYY out on a limb here, but it’s actually POSSIBLE that those ladies wanting to get married JUST WANT A MOTHER FUCKING WEDDING DRESS.

    Jesus H. Tap Dancing CHRIST!

  • Doug Little

A lesbian couple shopping for wedding dresses are “not unlike serial killers walking into a trophy shop requesting a plaque that indicates the accomplishments of the serial killer,”

No he didn’t go far enough and Godwin this shit up. It’s just like Hitler walking into a trophy shop and requesting a plaque for killing 6 million Jews.

Can we start to commit people that say shit this stupid for psychological evaluation?

The sharpest bulb is, of course, the broken one. (H/T Questionable Content)

Hold on, wedding dresses traditionally represent the bride’s prior non-accomplishment of the acts in question, not her accomplishment of them. Thus the white color (in western cultures). Dude, if you’re going to compare it to something, at least make the comparison internally consistent.

  • D. C. Sessions

eric, what is this “internally consistent” of which you speak?

  • magistramarla

“groups like NAMBLA may coerce Chuck E. Cheese restaurants into hosting “a party involving eight to twelve-year-old boys from Thailand.”

I’m confused. What the hell would be the objection to a group of boys from Thailand having a party at Chuck E. Cheese?

    Am I missing something?

  • grumpyoldfart

I think they both enjoyed themselves when they got around to fantasizing about photographing puppies that were being tortured.

  • Holms

Quick question: Which has a history of coercing people into enthusiastically participating in their celebrations, homosexuals or organized religion?

Easy: homosexuals! Assuming of course that ‘coercing people into enthusiastically participating in their celebrations’ actually means ‘being forced to stop discriminating against them’. And yes, many conservatives do see those as being precisely equivalent.
