Carson Continues to Spew Nonsense

Ben Carson is setting up a run at the Republican nomination for president and he is pandering to the far right base as fast as he possibly can. He’s even playing the communist card, though in an obviously hypocritical manner by blaming Obama for the growth of executive power.

In an interview yesterday with Iowa-based broadcaster Steve Deace, Carson said the powers of the executive branch are growing “because if somebody refuses to cooperate, you just pull the noose on them. That’s basically the way a lot of communist countries work, that’s been happening to us over the last several years and most of us are completely unaware of it.”

And I’m sure that Carson was speaking out against the Bush administration, which is the one that truly expanded executive power (Obama has done almost nothing to turn that back, but the policies Carson is referring to were all Bush policies), right? Of course not. Because he is being a partisan hack and need not be taken seriously. And, just as obviously, he has no idea what communism is. And then there’s this:

In a Wednesday interview with Andy Parks of the Washington Times, Carson said that ISIS could be easily defeated in no time but President Obama refuses to do it.

“I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many of our top military people, these are smart people and they are terrific when it comes to strategy. They’ve offered these strategies to the administration, they just have not been accepted. We could get rid of those people in no time at all,” Carson said. “It’s having the will to do it. It’s just like with the border, we could seal the border if we have the will to do it. We have the ability to do it, we just don’t have the will.”

Please name the “top military people” who told you this because they will have broken the law. I bet the only “top military people” he’s talked to are retired wingnuts like Paul Vallely.

If they had been top military people, they wouldn’t have been allowed to speak about it to him, and if they had been smart people, they wouldn’t have wanted to speak to him at all.

Sealing the border is really really easy. All Obama needs to do is follow the way the Bush did it when he was president.

It’s the same Top People who are investigating the Ark of the Covenant.

It’s having the will to do it.

Ah! The Triumph of the Will!

Here’s Dr. Carson defending former Baltimore Raven Ray Rice. I guess beating up women is AOK to the former neurosurgeon.

So Obama has decided not to use the easy method to defeat ISIS because he wants low approval numbers and make sure democrats are defeated in the elections? And these military people with such a sure plan have decided to talk to Carson instead of congress who would have the ability to pressue the president? I am glad he didn’t operate on brains with that logic.

Securing the boarder is simple, annex Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Now the only land boarder we have to worry about is a tiny little 48 mile strip that already has a huge moat. Plus most of the people who want to run our boarder would now be in the US already, removing the need to cross illegally. We just lack the will to do it.

He’s right — if by “having the will” you mean “being an insane monster.” We could use our nuclear arsenal and turn the entire ISIS region into a radioactive wasteland. I hope we never have the will to do that, though it might be colnago80’s preferred solution.

“We could get rid of those people in no time at all”

and THEN Iraq will treat us a liberating heroes and the war will pay for itself…

Don’t give them ideas. Anyway technically I believe you already annexed just over 50% of Mexico.

Colnago80, you know who else approved of beating up women? Frankenberger!

  • colnago80

    Re Artor @ #11

Well, it is alleged that he killed his niece, Geli Raubal. The gendarmes concluded that she committed suicide but there are numerous articles claiming that he gave her the bump and that the murder was covered up by the authorities.

If thugs beat more women over the head, there will be more work for neurosurgeons. Solved it for you.

Carson is the pizza guy of 2016.

Didn’t ‘top military people’ also say Iraq would be a cakewalk and the US troops would be greeted as liberators and usher in a new age of peace and democracy?

  • colnago80

    Re stuartsmith @ #15

I’m not sure if there were top military people who opined that. Certainly, the Army Chief of Staff said quite the opposite. It is my information that it was Dick Cheney who broadcast that prediction.

  • eric

@15 – yep, SLC is basically right about this one. First, Cheney and Bush gave some absurdly low troop numbers. Following that, then-General Shinseki publicly stated that several hundred thousand troops more than those estimates would be needed. A short time later, he ‘retired.’ I’m guessing that we didn’t hear anything after that from our top military officials because they got the message.
