Boykin Asks God to Kick America’s Ass

Disgraced former general Jerry Boykin spoke at the Values Voters Summit and told the audience to stop praying for God’s blessing on America because we’re apparently just too far gone for that. Instead, he said that they should pray for God to kick the country’s ass for our terrible sin of granting rights he disagrees with.

“If we ask God to humble us, if we ask God to bring us to a point where we do turn back to him… we’ve got to be prepared for greater persecution, we’ve got to be prepared to be knocked to our knees, not just invited to our knees, but knocked to our knees,” he said.

“Pray that God will forgive us,” he added. “Don’t pray for God’s blessings on America, I stopped doing that three years ago.”

He then said that legal abortion, pornography, and families “disintegrating at an incredible rate” have brought the country to a similar point that brought about the Civil War, which he said happened because “Americans realized that slavery was wrong and they began to repent for the evil.”

What a bizarre conception of history. The civil war happened because a huge number of Americans believed that God had ordained slavery in the Bible (which is true) and that the right to own slaves was inviolable, not because people began repenting for slavery. And all of this is just another example of the Christian focus on how horrible human beings are. We’re so terrible that we deserve to be destroyed, hit with plagues and burned in hell for eternity. It’s quite sick, I think.

…have brought the country to a similar point that brought about the Civil War, which he said happened because “Americans realized that slavery was wrong and they began to repent for the evil.”

Yeah, the Christian apologists for evil were wrong about that one, too.

  • colnago80

Silly Boykin, the Civil War was fought over the ownership of the coal mines in West Virginia. Anybody who knows anything about history knows that.

  • Pierce R. Butler

If repenting produces civil wars and Boykin tells us to repent, shouldn’t he face a charge of inciting to violence?

God already did, but with his aim, he hit Indonesia instead. Or maybe that’s the reason for the dinosaur extinction. “Doh! That asteroid was meant for the US. Gotta work on my timing.”

  • DonDueed

So it sounds like we can blame Boykin for the next big disaster that strikes the US of A, right? After all, he stopped asking for God’s blessing, and we all know the implications of that.

Obama should have this man as his religious leader instead of that horrible Rev Wright!

“…not because people began repenting for slavery.”

They did repent for slavery, and, thanks to the carpetbaggers’ and scallywags’ roadblocks and obstructionism it took almost a decade to Redeem the South and put in place leaders and laws to ensure that slavery would never again be necessary!

legal abortion, pornography, and families “disintegrating at an incredible rate”

The opposite of these things is not “godliness.” It’s unwanted children that eventually enter the criminal system, guys jerkin it anyway, and people staying in unhappy and sometimes dangerous relationships.

    Grow up dickweed.

Amazing how none of the wingnuts who freaked out over Jeremiah Wright’s sermon aren’t calling for Boykin’s head even though he’s saying essentially the same thing (ie, God to smite America). Remind me again what the difference between the two is?

d.c.wilson, Boykin is blaming the right people. Wright blamed white people.

“And all of this is just another example of the Christian focus on how horrible human beings are. They, being truly righteous, get rewarded.

Mostly, we humans need to be brought down to our knees for the crime of being uppity, for thinking we can be independent and rule ourselves. The religious seem to be in an abusive relationship with reality.

I’d ask the god Thor to kick Boykin’s ass.

But it wouldn’t do any good. He is getting ready to fight the Frost Giants again.

My prophecy is that they will be back and soon. It will get cold in the Northern Hemisphere as the Frost Giants invade. Frozen water will fall from the sky. But it will end in a few months!!! Thor for the win.

Don’t laugh, that is more than the xian god ever does.

  • grumpyoldfart

He’s asking god to kick everybody in the arse because he thinks he will be exempt. He thinks that when the attack comes, he’ll be standing alongside god and helping to dole out the punishments. Little does he know that God hates “yes men”, and it is the atheists who will be saved, and the Christians getting their arse kicked. [Trust me. I know about these things.]

Actually, the Chinese are already busy kicking American arse in the economic sector, where it really hurts. No need for divine help. Or maybe the Chinese are getting support from the Monkey god.

You’re overthinking this one, Ed. The Civil War was fought over the question of whether self-ownership extended to all humans. His statement makes much more sense when you remind yourself which side of the conflict Boykin represents.

I think this and other such comments really miss the point.

Boykin likely thinks that he IS GOD. I mean, bugfucking nuts is bugfucking nuts.
