Benham Twins: American Christians are Like Victims of ISIS

Old hotness: American Christians are just like the Jews in Nazi Germany! Brand new hotness: American Christians are like the victims of ISIS! That’s the argument made by the Benham twins, who appear to share a brain, saying they’ve been “silenced.” Ironically, they said this at a huge conference broadcast on C-SPAN.

In their speech to the summit, the Benham twins argued that just as ISIS beheads their victim with a sword, progressive groups like Right Wing Watch “silence” conservatives by quoting them verbatim.

Jason Benham kicked it off by likening himself and his brother to Jesus Christ — a theme throughout their speech — and later David said that Christians in America are facing persecution just like Christians in the Mideast who are coming under attack from violent groups such as ISIS.

“There is a radical agenda that has come in our nation,” David explained, “the weapon of choice for the agenda in the Middle East is a sword, but the weapon of choice for the agenda in America is silence. They demand silence.”

*snicker* I don’t demand that you be silent. I demand that you keep saying stupid shit like this as loudly as you can, and the more often the better. The more you talk, the more ridiculous you look.

“the weapon of choice for the agenda in the Middle East is a sword, but the weapon of choice for the agenda in America is silence. They demand silence.”

Whut? Speak up! That microphone you’re holding must not be working!

What they are really are complaining about is that most Americans aren’t listening to them and, among those who are, most are laughing or appalled.

The media has never broadcast my words nationally. Clearly I am being silenced.

” . . . progressive groups like Right Wing Watch “silence” conservatives by quoting them verbatim.”

Well, then, if you don’t like being quoted verbatim because it makes you sound, y’know, idiotic, then maybe the real problem is your idiocy. Maybe if you sounded less delusional and ignorant, you wouldn’t be so embarrassed to be quoted.

That first quoted paragraph is hilarious. You should provide some attribution.

“…but the weapon of choice for the agenda in America is silence. They demand silence.”

Funny thing is, that’s pretty much the weapon of choice they have for advocates of gay rights.

In fact, that’s been pretty much what conservatives have been demanding from leftists since forever.

    Which one is Craig?

[They] said that Christians in America are facing persecution just like Christians in the Mideast who are coming under attack from violent groups such as ISIS

Right… except for the persecution, attack, and violent parts.

…the weapon of choice for the agenda in the Middle East is a sword, but the weapon of choice for the agenda in America is silence. They demand silence

OK, really basic here, there are at least 3 things you cannot truthfully say:

    1) I’m dead

    2) I’m lying

    3) I’ve been silenced.

  • Reginald Selkirk

This bit about “love steps in front of bullets” – I take it they are volunteering to go to the Middle East and fight ISIS in person?

  • D. C. Sessions

Funny as this is, I suspect that what their audience is hearing is “we can’t preach the Gospel to children in public schools.”

  • howardhershey

Isn’t the weapon of choice of RWW ridicule rather than silence? You know, the ridicule that comes from quoting you verbatim and pointing out how idiotic your ideas are.

“Ironically”? Putting them on C-SPAN proves their case.

What is really evil is how libruls keep making stupid crap out their mouths.

The “Values” Voters Summit is, I’m sure, full of people who want to censor pro-gay speech like they’ve done in Uganda and Russia. They’re really in no position to complain about criticism and mockery.

  • vmanis1

I for one support the Benhams’ freedom of speech. If they want to dress in burlap sacks, put lampshades on their heads, and declaim `Itsy-bitsy Teeny-weeny Yellow Polka-dot Bikini’ in Gregorian plainchant while doing a clogdance, that’s fine with me. But I still have the right to call them dim-witted a**holes.

Nothing makes me feel more sorry than the spectacle of over-privileged, rich white men getting giving a speech about how they are the most victimized people in America. Maybe even in the entire world!

  • D. C. Sessions

They’re really in no position to complain about criticism and mockery.

Recite again the principal sacraments of the religious Right.
