Igwe: Where Are the Faith Healers in the Ebola Crisis?

My friend Leo Igwe asks a very important and obvious question: As Ebola rages through Western Africa, where are all those preachers, mostly Pentecostal, who claim to have the ability to heal people? They hold faith healing revivals all over Africa, but now they’re suddenly silent and missing in action.

Where are all the continent’s miracle workers now that people desperately need healing; where are the anointed men and women of God now governments urgently need to contain the spread of Ebola? Where are all the pastors and preachers who have built their religious and business empires marketing miracle cure claims to gullible, ignorant desperate folks in cities and villages across Africa over the years? Have their miracle stocks suddenly gone dry? Or don’t they have any miracle package that is compatible with Ebola? What are our faith healers doing now? Can’t they singly or jointly take the spiritual battle against Ebola to affected communities and demonstrate to the world that their God is truly a miracle God?

Where are the T B Joshuas, David Oyedepos, Enoch Adeboyes, Kumuyis of this world and other anointed men and women who claim to be in direct communication with god in matters concerning healing? Why can’t T B Joshua travel down to Sierra Leone or Liberia and cast this ‘demon’ of Ebola into the Ocean once and for all? Why can’t the Nigerian government allow Ebola patients to come to the Synagogue in Lagos so that they can receive their healing from the quaking anointed hands of Prophet T B Joshua or be delivered by the most revered Enoch Adeboye and David Oyedepo?

Where is Archbishop Nicolas Duncan Williams of Action Chapel in Accra? Have his prophetic and faith healing powers suddenly expired? I mean this is the time for ministration. This is the time to spread God’s anointing and use it to counter the spread of Ebola. Where are the faith healers? I ask once again. The government and people Guinea, Sierra Leone need you now, urgently. The people of the world need your help. Do not retreat. Do not make excuses now the ‘Kingdom of God’ is suffering violence due to Ebola disease. This is the time of reckoning. This is the time to hold you to account for the faith healing claims you have made over the years. Yes, this is the defining moment.

Rick Joyner recently claimed that there are Christians who can make the Ebola virus disappear from those who are infected by merely being in their presence. So why aren’t they traveling to Africa and healing people en masse? What better demonstration could there be of God’s alleged power? They aren’t there because they don’t exist. And all those African faith healers are con men, preying on the desperate.

    LOL.

i know of no studies on the distance at which Faith Healing can act. Since god is all powerful, he can do anything. It’s quite possible that there are no distance limitations on faith healing and the power of prayer. You could stand back 50 million light years and do it.

Which means they are all sitting in comfortable chairs a few thousand miles distant and faith healing away.

Since faith healing is magic, this all makes perfect sense. Except:…it still doesn’t work!!!

  • cmotdibbler

Perhaps what is really need is something up close and personal…. let’s see some faith healers “laying on of hands” with the infected Ebola patients.

OT but related: I’m sure most people know that the first Ebola case found in the USA was found in Texas yesterday. A traveler from Liberia came in and then got sick.

    1. This was not unexpected. The CDC said as much as did lots of others including me. There will probably be more.

    2. The lunatic fringers are going bonkers. It’s FEMA, the Illuminati, the UN depopulation program, it’s all Obama’s fault, it’s a plot by the medical establishment to make big bucks.

    3. One of main problems in Africa, is ignorance coupled to fear. In Guinea, 8 health care workers were murdered while trying to survey a village last week. Liberia is in danger of simply collapsing into anarchy.

    4. Among some segments of the US population, it wouldn’t be any different.

Maybe the faith healing is WORKING for those worthy of God’s healing grace? All of those children and volunteer health workers and poor villagers must DESERVE to die according to the Great Psychopath in the Sky?

The malelovence at the heart of Christianity is breathtaking.

A good example is the comments on the story about this patient at Breitbart’s pit of lunacy:

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/09/30/CDC-Confirms-Texas-Patient-is-First-Case-of-Ebola-Diagnosed-in-the-United-States

    Typical comments:

If this crap gets loose in a major city that’s an international travel hub, there’ll be no stopping it and we’ll have a global pandemic on our hands. Flights out of the plague zones need to be stopped, or subjected to a 21+ day quarantine upon landing.

This crap getting loose in a major city is EXACTLY what Obama and his parasite bureaucrats demand.

They want people BEGGING for Obamacare. ANY care from ANYWHERE.

How many more out there and could this be deliberate biological warfare?

I bet that is one of the Muzzie plans. A suicide bomber takes out what – 30 to 40 people max? An Ebola bomber can do much worse – take out tens of thousands. Just think what they could do to Israel … and the US! Yeah … your black messiah wants to keep the border open. Let’s see what happens by Christmas.

Reality check: Ebola is not a very infectious disease (no airborne, transmission, only by contact with bodily fluids and only after symptoms appear). The only reason it has spread so far and wide in West Africa is the primitive medical establishment there and the ignorance of the population (something we may, based on the above comments, be able to match the West Africans in). No one at the CDC is sweating that this may result in a US epidemic (though that are undoubtedly sweating to make sure there is no further spread of the disease as a way of reassuring the country).

It’s not surprising. The profit margin in faith healing Ebola is pretty thin given that most of the people who get it are dirt-poor. The real money is in faith treating erectile dysfunction.

This Ebola case isn’t good news. Especially for the patient who is listed as critical and may die. And anyone else he may have infected.

But worse is the potential panic among the US population, at least some segments of it. It’s already happening. If there are more cases, likely IMO, it will get worse.

Look, they can heal people, but they aren’t stupid.

  • http://www.gregory-gadow.net Gregory in Seattle

Maybe they are hanging out with the faith healers who are deathly allergic to hospitals.

  • grumpyoldfart

God has already saved two Americans from Ebola – and we know it’s true because the victims themselves told us!

  • caseloweraz

In 2007 they signed a non-competition pact with the homeopathists. When that expires in 2017, you’ll really see something!

    Yeah, that’s it — that’s the ticket!

  • Michael Heath

Silly atheists. God’s not healing anyone of Ebola until all African gay people and their supporters are either dead or in jail. That’s the whole reason God rained Ebola down on Africa.

Or some other idiotic argument that lacks both evidence and reason but is still presented with absolute certainty.

  • suttkus

Oh, you fools! You cannot imagine the horror of viral hemorrhagic fever being unleashed in our cities! And you don’t have to imagine! Because it already happened! In the sixties! And we all died so nobody remembers it!

Seriously, though, in 1967, Marburg broke out in, well, Marburg, Germany. Marburg has the exact same symptoms as Ebola, and is nearly as virulent. It infected about 30 people before being brought under control. With 1960’s technology and techniques. By people who had never seen a viral hemorrhagic fever before.

30 people! We’re all going to die because we’re so much worse at controlling diseases now! We’ve forgotten everything we knew in the sixties and haven’t developed any new technologies or ways to share information! WE’RE ALL DEAD ALREADY!

  • D. C. Sessions

The real money is in faith treating erectile dysfunction.

That’s one condition where solid research supports the efficacy of the laying on of hands. And some practitioners are really good at it.

  • robb

the faith healers *are* healing ebola victims. unfortunately, like all medicine, faith healing is not 100% effective. the people that are infected are the few % that faith healing cannot help. the real toll, without the tireless efforts of those maverick faith healers, would be much much higher!!11!!1! be sure to send all your money to a faith healer to show your appreciation for preventing you from getting ebola.

and don’t forget to get your flu shot! you never know if you will be one of the unlucky ones that won’t be protected by a faith healers flu treatment.

Related: if Ebola got a significant hold in the US and medical researchers developed an effective vaccine, what chance that the anti-vaccine crowd would continue to turn down the chance to be immunized.

The only reason it has spread so far and wide in West Africa is the primitive medical establishment there and the ignorance of the population – John Pieret@5

The UK House of Commons International Development Committee syas that cuts in UK health aid to Liberia and Sierra Leone “compromised the fight” to stop the spread of the virus. Contrast this penny-pinching (in relation to government spending, the amounts involved will be tiny) with the courage and compassion of the health workers, both from the countries involved and elsewhere, who are risking their lives to help.

  • dingojack

Nick – it’s interesting. Here, the government is cutting spending on international aid in order to ‘afford’ military adventures in Iraq*

Brilliant decision there guys, because bombing the shit outta schools and hospitals from 20,000ft is just sooo much more effective (and cheaper) than, you know, getting people on the ground building schools and hospitals in order to show the people that ISIL are wrong about westerner’s attitude to Muslims in general and Iraqis in particular. @@

‘Winning hearts & minds’ is, clearly, this governments speciality.

I am sure that we will find a bunch of quack faith healers busy spreading Ebola by laying on of hands and such.
