Rick Wiles Makes a Prediction

One of the most absurd things about the Christian right is that they are constantly making dystopic predictions that never actually happen, but the failure of those predictions doesn’t appear to have any effect at all on them or their followers as they just move on to the next one as though they hadn’t been completely full of shit before. Rick Wiles has another one:

“Within a short time there will be a beheading every week in America,” he predicted.

Wiles of course, claims that he predicted the September beheading over a decade ago: “I saw this day coming in 1998 after the Lord gave me a vision of judgment in America. The Holy Spirit told me in the summer of 1998 that there will be a day in America that the imams of this country will issue a secret code to jihad and every obedient Muslim will know that he or she is obligated to carry out jihad that day and kill Americans.”

Oooh, a secret code! That sounds totally credible. So when there isn’t a beheading every week in America — and there won’t be — will Wiles admit that he was wrong? Of course not. By that time, he’ll have moved on to another prediction that won’t come true and none of his credulous followers will even notice that he was wrong the first time (every time, in fact). This is the modus operandi of the far right and always has been.

How many times have they predicted that the government is going to seize their guns? Or that the president is going to declare martial law? Or put people in FEMA concentration camps? Or suspend the next election? Or that the UN is going to take over the country? They make these claims every day and have for decades now, but none of them ever come true. A rational person might notice that, but we are not dealing with rational people here.

Too late. We already have Headless Wednesdays here at Al & Sal’s Hallal Buffet. Behead an infidel and get 10% off! True story.

Johnny Carson used to read the “psychic predictions” in the supermarket tabloids every year, at the end of the year they were for. The only ones that ever came true were the ones that anyone could have guessed, but the same people always were featured in the January issue about the next year.

Wiles is about nine years too late. Emperor Palpatine already issued General Order 66.

Coming this fall to FX: Heads Off!

A weekly battle between competing teams of jihadists to perform beheadings before a celebrity panel of judges. Judges will be scoring based upon style, execution, and distance (how far the head rolls once removed). At the end of the season, the two highest scoring teams will put it all on the line in Chopper Bowl I.

Monday nights at 10. Don’t miss it!

there will be a day in America that the imams of this country will issue a secret code to jihad

Opps! The imams kept the code so secret that Muslims in America don’t know what it is and that’s the reason there won’t be beheadings every week.

Really, it’s like the wingnuts are sitting around a campfire telling ghost stories … they know the stories are fake but they enjoy the little thrill of the hair on the back of their neck standing up.

This isn’t about objective truth and rationality. It’s all about the story. These are still teenagers sitting around a campfire, with their flashlights under their chins, telling about Bloody Mary. There’s an emotional response to the story, whether it’s fear, anger or something positive. That’s all on the listener’s side. On the teller’s side, there’s a very good reason for these stories. Like any salesman, Wiles is creating a need where one doesn’t exist — a need for protection and salvation. The way to get that protection and salvation is to do what he tells them, especially in sending money. But for him, I suspect that simply having the control over people is a good motivation.

If you know a Muslim look on the side of their computer monitors. You’ll see a post-it note with the secret code on it.

Oh crap. He must have found the copy of The Homosexual Agenda I lost a couple of weeks ago.

So, if Wiles claims his dream (of imams signaling that obediant muslims should kill people) was a predictor of the September beheading, and since there was exactly one beheading in September, that must mean that there is exactly one obediant muslim and one imam in this country. And that one muslim is now in custody. So no need to worry.

Except by that time they will have already died from the ebola they infected themselves with to bring into this country.

Beheadings? Actually…he might have something here, just not the Muslim part. And once week? I bet Texas could pull that off.

Sigh… So not only is the Christian deity’s *aim* off, but he can’t tell time, either. Obviously Wiles was told about the late 18th century French Reign of Terror.

Off hand I’d have to say that beheading though dramatic is a far cry more humane than say burning at the stake or crucifition. Though how any form of execution can be considered humane is also inexplicable to me. Death is the ultimate release.
