Another Death Threat for Jerry DeWitt's Group

I’ve written before about death threats sent to people who are working with Jerry DeWitt to create a secular congregation in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Jerry posted a new one to his Facebook page on Tuesday. Here’s the image of the threat that was sent:

You could not keep away from it, could you? You and your group are infecting this area and driving THE ONE TRUE GOD out. We have warned you before, we are warning you again. We will stop you any way we have too (sic). He has mysterious ways. Keep you’re (sic) family close.

That ONE TRUE GOD must not be very powerful if he can be driven out by the mere presence of people who don’t believe in him. As always, I hope the police can track this person down and arrest them.

    “He has misterious ways.”

And that pretty much sums up the patriarchy that is Christianity.

  • dugglebogey

    Random capiTALizaTION? Check.

Poor grasp of spelling and grammar? Check.

    Incomprehensible message? Check.

The only comforting thing about threats like this is that their ability to carry any real damage out is hindered by their general level of competence, which is very very low.

They should make like in Cinderella and go house to house asking people to spell ‘mysterious’.

That ONE TRUE GOD must not be very powerful …

Xians claim their gods are all powerful and can do anything. Then they act like their gods can’t do anything and require humans to do everything for them.

It’s the fundamental incoherency of xianity.

PS My cat is more powerful than their gods. She is real, catches a mouse now and then, digs in the garden, and can open doors.

  • howardhershey

Actually they act like the only way that their God can do things is by working via ignorant illiterate thugs.

  • birgerjohansson

My cat sometimes pees in the wrong place. So he is a more effective creature of terror that these dorks.

Sure, but an APB for a belligerent moron is going to come up with a lot of false positives.

Oh yeah? Tell that to the family of George Tiller.

These people are sick, twisted domestic terrorists that need to be stopped at all costs. Only problem is most (if not all) law enforcement probably feels the same way they do. The may even sit next to each other in church on Sundays.

And if there’s one thing Southern cops are good at, it’s shooting people. Sometimes even the ones they mean to kill. No matter how many rounds it takes.

If that was printed on a modern laser printer, they (secretly) print almost indiscernible yellow dots that can identify the make, model, and serial number of the printer. Most stores track the serial numbers of the electronics they sell so it might not end up being that hard to find out where the printer was sold and to whom.

    Hopefully that is the case.

    He has misterious ways

Let’s see … Mr. Greenjeans? … no, too mild mannered … Mr. Rogers? … no, too smart … Mr. T? … closer, but our correspondent would probably object to so much melanin … I know! … Mr Magoo! … that why he keeps hitting trailer parks in Kansas with tornadoes when he gets mad at gays on the east or west coasts!

    Obviously.

“Modus really needs his/her own blog…”

Can’t. I’m not allowed on the internet.

The writer must have been reading Terry Prachett’s biography of Yahweh, Small Gods.

That message just screamed out “christian love”.

We’ve got a good system where I live – all threats are ignored (because it’s just ‘talk’ after all) but if anyone does get killed, well our police go looking for them straightaway.

  • whheydt

    Re: grumpyoldfar @ #16…

And I bet that when your local cops going looking for someoen that has been killed, the cops have no trouble at all finding the victim.

(Oh…that isn’t what you meant? “Them” doesn’t refer to the victim?)

Puny god that can be driven out so easily.

  • tuibguy

I think I have this worked out: Muslims are terrorists who threaten infidels. Christians are righteous believers who threaten unbelievers.

Somewhere, some progressive community will use their power to prohibit on line (and off line) threats of rape and other physical violence in their jurisdiction. I under stand that these threats are illegal now, but with almost no enforcement.

If that community would increase dramatically, I mean dramatically, the maximum punishment for a first offense, the publicity that would create could do wonders for public awareness.

I’m thinking of proposing such an ordinance at a public meeting in my county here in Texas. It would, of course, go nowhere here, but it has to start somewhere and I am sure there are some places where it could.

Has anyone written such an ordinance that I could copy?

  • ludicrous

    Ludicrous @ 21,

Second thoughts, second coffee. Well, maybe not first offense but at least for repeaters. Of course prosecutors and judges have discretion and there will still be the “boys will be boys” excusings. Even if no one is prosecuted the publicity would be worth while. This would be an opportunity to for these guys to notice that serious threats can work both ways.

Hey, we have self appointed deputies policing our borders, why not some computer literates help track down and expose these psychopaths.. A website where a woman could forward anonymously the threats she is getting.
