Hagee: Ebola is God’s Judgment

You knew it was inevitable that some wingnut was going to declare that the Ebola outbreak is God’s punishment on us for whatever thing they don’t like at the moment, right? Televangelist con man John Hagee says God is judging America for not supporting Israel strongly enough.

“I want every American to hear this very clearly,” Hagee said, citing Joel 3 to warn that God will judge any nation that seeks to divide up Israel and declaring that “our president is dead set on dividing Jerusalem. God is watching and he will bring America into judgment.”

“There are grounds to say that judgment has already begun,” Hagee continued, “because he, the president, has been fighting to divide Jerusalem for years now.”

“We are now experiencing the crisis of Ebola,” he stated, as well as threats from Islamic radicals and even civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri all as a result of God’s judgment on America due to Obama’s policies.

So wait, God is punishing America for not supporting Israel by starting an Ebola epidemic in in West Africa that has killed thousands of people there but almost no one here? Is that how God works, by punishing people who had nothing to do with it? Who does he think he is, George W. Bush?

Who does he think he is, George W. Bush?

Nah, since Hagee’s god is an American, he’s probably just suffering from that common American ailment, OWHITUSAC* syndrome.

In 2005, God sent a hurricane to wipe out New Orleans. In 2014, he kills three people. Yahweh’s just phoning it in now I guess.

No, no! When Ebola turns out, like all our many other dire predictions have, to devastate the US, then you’ll see God’s hand turned against us … any day now!

Hagee has so many levels of disconnect it’s difficult to choose a starting point.

Nick, don’t you mean the closely-related malady, OWHiTFDC? (Only What Happens In Teabagger’s Fever Dreams Counts.)

I’m reminded of the old theater saying about overly didactic plays — “if you wanna send a message, call Western Union”.

So far, no Americans have died of Ebola contracted in the USA.

However, quite a few missionaries in West Africa have. Perhaps Hagee should take the warning.

No one yet knows what Hagee is punishment for but it must be pretty bad.

    i actually lolled :)

And it’s true. Why doesn’t god send Obama his own private hurricane or a lightning strike that kills just him and nobody else?

There have been, what, four cases of Ebola found on American soil (only two of which were contracted here)? To hear the news, you’d swear there were thousands of people dying in the streets, their unburied corpses rotting in the sun because there aren’t enough healthy people left to bury the bodies. There a government officials screaming for the heads of CDC workers because two nurses in the entire country were exposed to the disease (but mostly because they are people working for a government agency during the Obama administration). The fearmongering is obscene!

    The fearmongering is obscene!

    And effective, too.

Here’s another! Ebola is God’s punishment for striking down the SSM bans, according to North Carolina pastor Ron Baity:

When that ban was struck down by a federal court this week, Baity connected it with something else he was seeing in the news, predicting that God will punish America with the Ebola virus because of the fall of same-sex marriage bans and laws criminalizing homosexuality.

Gee, I wonder why God couldn’t have gotten it closer to the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. than Dallas?

I suppose attacking West Africa instead of the Palestinians and wiping them out once and for all is just another god-moves-in-mysterious-ways. It seems his aim is not as good these days as it was in the old testament. It must be the world is a bit bigger than a few goatherders’ provinces and god has neither map or GPS to figure out where to aim, about as incompetent as North Korea’s rockets.

Considering his history as in the bible, I wouldn’t trust god to judge a frozen pie bake-off.
