Flip Benham Protests North Carolina Weddings

Marriage equality came to North Carolina last week and dozens of gay couples got married at county courthouses. Flip Benham, the incredibly extreme anti-gay and anti-choice fanatic, was there to protest those weddings. Maybe that’s what they mean by civil disobedience?

Three anti-LGBT protesters were present outside the register’s office, including well-known street preacher and convicted stalker Flip Benham. He interrupted several couples’ weddings as supporters held up a large rainbow flag to block his view.

Another protester waved a bible in the air as he screamed several profanities and vulgarities. He was asked by sheriff’s deputies to tone it down or leave. He opted for the latter.

Despite the protesters, those gathered celebrated at each of the several weddings held outside the register’s office.

If this is what the bigots mean by demanding civil disobedience, I say keep it up because it will backfire on them big time. It will make them exactly like the Westboro Baptist Church does when they protest funerals, like the vicious bigots that they are.

So, I guess that’s pretty much it for North Carolina. The very next hurricane that comes its way will be proof of god’s wrath being that North Carolina never, ever gets hit by hurricanes so therefore god musta sent it as a message even though it’s months or even years later.

What with his kids, it just goes to show that the wingnut doesn’t fall far from the tree.

It will make them [look] exactly like the Westboro Baptist Church does when they protest funerals, like the vicious bigots that they are.

In addition to making them look bad to the public, I think screaming outside a courthouse day after day is probably going to turn a lot of otherwise conservative judges and law enforcement officers against them.

I wonder how any of them would feel if someone went out side their churches and did the same thing about the evils of christianity.

“Another protester waved a bible in the air as he screamed several profanities and vulgarities”

On the one hand, I feel badly for the newlyweds to have their ceremony disrupted by an asshole.

On the other hand, lots more of this Christian love, please! Video taped and shown on the news as often as possible.

That was the theme they picked.

At least, when these couples’ children watch their wedding videos, their parents won’t be the people the kids are laughing (or shouting) at.

Three protesters! Three. Count ’em. If that’s all North Carolina can muster up to protest the evil that will destroy all of Western Culture, then the same-sex marriage issue is surely and completely done with. Stick a fork in it.
