Fox News Host: Young Women Shouldn’t Vote

Where does Fox News find their seemingly endless supply of female hosts and contributors willing to throw their own gender under the bus? Kimberly Guilfoyle, one of the hosts of The Five, basically said that young women are a bunch of dumb sluts who use Tinder and they shouldn’t vote until they’re older and more conservative.

“The Five” co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle said Tuesday that young women should excuse themselves from voting in the upcoming midterm elections because they don’t share the same “life experience” as older women and should just go back to playing around on Tinder and Match.com.

“It’s the same reason why young women on juries are not a good idea,” Guilfoyle said. “They don’t get it!”

Earlier in the conversation, co-host Greg Gutfeld made the point that “with age comes wisdom” and the “older you get, the more conservative you get.”

In other words: “Hey kids! Hold off a little. You don’t have to vote just yet. Wait until you’re conservative enough old enough!”

Guilfoyle agreed, suggesting that you can’t cast an informed vote until you’ve gone through adult things, like paying the bills.

“They’re [young women] like healthy and hot and running around without a care in the world,” she concluded. “They can go back on Tinder or Match.com.”

I’m not a big fan of terms like “sister punisher,” but if it doesn’t apply here it never will. What a vile human being.

In other words, they should find a husband first who can tell them how to vote.

    Quisling much?

  • Aviatrix23 .

Strange, I was working and paying my own way by age 20. As I’ve gotten older and more experienced I’ve become MORE liberal due to enhanced empathy and lower tolerance of inequality.

  • colnago80

Ms. Guilfoyle is the ex-wife of current California lieutenant governor and former San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom.

  • Loqi

So you don’t pay bills until you’re old? Shit, I have to talk to my bank and tell them to stop sending me these mortgage bills until I’ve reached average Fox News viewer age.

  • http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/User:Modusoperandi Modusoperandi

By their own argument, young women shouldn’t listen to the advice of these young women.

  • Michael Heath

A classic example of idiotic thinking:

Greg Gutfeld made the point that “with age comes wisdom” and the “older you get, the more conservative you get.”

It’s especially sad given that Mr. Gutfeld gets paid to make such pronouncements while millions lap it up.

  • John Pieret

If “getting it” is a criterion for voting, Guilfoyle should have her voter registration card taken out, torn to pieces, peed on and buried in a pile of solid waste from a sewage treatment plant.

  • eric

If it’s any consolation, I bet she’d say that young men shouldn’t vote until they are more conservative too.

  • frankniddy

Why are they targeting young women, specifically, and not also young men? I mean, it’s a worthless and stupid talking point anyway, and there’s the obvious misogynistic double standard there, but I’d love to hear their justification. I assume it boils down to *biotruths.*

  • Childermass

As “Phyllis Schlafly” said in 1871, woman want their true rights protected by not giving them the vote. 😉

At least this 19th Century anti-woman’s-suffrage advocate was not self serving as she asked that no women to vote and not just the women likely to vote for someone she did not like.

  • busterggi

Modus @6. – No one should listen to the advice of anyone on Faux News.

  • weatherwax

When I posted the story on Facebook a friend responded that I shouldn’t condemn without watching the whole video for context. But unless the context is refuting comments made by somebody else I don’t see the problem.

  • slc1

    Re Childermass@ #11

Ahem, Ms. Schlafly, who is still, unfortunately, still with us, wrote that in 1971.

In addition, Schlafly also once said that women who jog in jogging bras and shorts are asking to be raped.

This is why I don’t watch Faux News anymore.

  • Chiroptera

“with age comes wisdom” and the “older you get, the more conservative you get.”

    Whoa! She just contradicted herself!

  • Taz

busterggi @12 – I beg to differ. I think all Fox News viewers should listen when told not to vote.

busterggi “Modus @6. – No one should listen to the advice of anyone on Faux News.”

But how else will old white men know what to feel aggrieved about?

I mean, did you know that young woman exercising the ir rights are what’s wrong with America today? Did you?!!!

    “with age comes wisdom”

I like when conservatives argue that only people over 50 should be allowed to serve in the military. BTW, that’s a really good idea.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/TabbyLavalamp Tabby Lavalamp

It’s interesting that her name came up, because I dislike “sister punisher” too and suggest that anti-feminist women should be known as “schlaflies”.

  • Chiroptera

Guilfoyle agreed, suggesting that you can’t cast an informed vote until you’ve gone through adult things, like paying the bills.

I guess as long as 20 year old non-bill payers aren’t required to obey the laws that the other peoples’ elected representatives pass, she might have a point.

  • doublereed

Where does Fox News find their seemingly endless supply of female hosts and contributors willing to throw their own gender under the bus?

Honestly, there’s always been a good deal of prestige and money in doing this. Just put out a casting call.

  • Chiroptera

Guilfoyle agreed, suggesting that you can’t cast an informed vote until you’ve gone through adult things, like paying the bills.

Also: Most US conservatives are actually the opposite of “informed voters.”

  • hoku

    @ frankniddy 10

Young men can vote because men largely vote conservative. Same reason why people on public assistance shouldn’t be able to vote, people who don’t speak english shouldn’t be able to vote, people who go to college shouldn’t be able to vote but gun owners should, non-property owners shouldn’t be able to vote, etc.

  • scienceavenger

the “older you get, the more conservative you get.”

Do you? Or does society just keep getting more liberal, thereby making old farts get relatively more conservative merely by standing still?

  • Kevin Kehres

I’d be curious if anyone has studied this meme. It’s certainly bullshit as far as I’m concerned.

I mean … OK this is a tough confession … choke … I once … gasp … voted … derr … for … gulp … Richard Nixon! Fucker knew how to get things done.

Now, if my local Democratic Party candidate was a crack-smoking, racist, misogynist Catholic priest with an altar boy problem, I’d still have trouble voting for the Republican. Because s/he’d surely be worse.

  • freehand

scienceavenger says: the “older you get, the more conservative you get.”

    .

Do you? Or does society just keep getting more liberal, thereby making old farts get relatively more conservative merely by standing still?

    .

    This.

I like to think that I’m more nuanced than I was 50 years ago. But I was socialist, feminist, a supporter of gay rights, secular, and a science fan boy. Still am, but now my ears ring and I wear bifocals.

    .

The kids aren’t getting more conservative. It just seems that way to my hateful, bigoted, racist, superstitious, greedy, misogynistic, and traitorous peers who don’t understand that the difference isn’t age but generational.

  • http://www.facebook.com/KacyRay kacyray

    Repulsive.

  • sugarfrosted

@13 The appropriate response is “so what’s the context?”

They wouldn’t have an answer, they never do. If they did, they would have explained it from the get go.

I haven’t gotten more conservative at all incidentally. I’ve gone from a daily listener of Michael Savage to some weird combination of illegalist and socialist.

  • felidae

I guess, in the case of Ms. Guilfoyle, wisdom comes when you have to get your makeup applied with a trowel

  • Lofty

Fox probably pays enough to assuage any guilt the entitled woman may have had for her less advantaged sisters.

  • http://www.pandasthumb.org Area Man

In other words: “Hey kids! Hold off a little. You don’t have to vote just yet. Wait until you’re conservative enough old enough!”

And black people, wait until you’re white enough to be conservative!

  • eric

In an conservative ideal democracy there is no restriction against women voting. The restriction is that only land owners can vote, and only men can own land…

  • culuriel

What if you’re a middle-aged woman who’s paid off her student loans (hence, more than a few bills), and is still liberal? Can I still vote?

  • eric

SNL should do a skit for an advertisement for Conservative Barbie. Pull the string, and she says:

    “I’m a girl, I don’t vote silly!”

    “Let me ask my husband”

(add others if you’re inspired to do so)

  • dogfightwithdogma

Earlier in the conversation, co-host Greg Gutfeld made the point that “with age comes wisdom” and the “older you get, the more conservative you get.

Two frequently repeated myths. Fits right into the Fox format: myth over reality, fiction over fact.

  • jasmyn

I moved out on my own when I was seventeen years old and a senior in high school. I worked a minimum wage job and paid my bills. I never asked my parents or anyone else for money. I grew up in a house that always has Fox news on.

I’m now married to a soldier. I only mention his job because to these types, there is no higher calling than being a military wife. I’m sure I lose points though for also being employed.

I’m far less conservative now than I was. I know what it’s like to struggle. I live comfortably now, but my life experience has led me to have compassion. Compassion prevents me from voting against my fellow citizens.
