Hice: Public Schools are Like Nazi Germany

Jody Hice, the preacher turned politician who is almost certainly going to be in Congress next year from Georgia where he can join the Republican Moron Caucus, says that public schools are just like what Hitler did in Nazi Germany. Right, because every democratic country in the world doesn’t also have public schools or anything.

Obviously, if we have government — which is what the public school is — if we have government indoctrinating what students are learning, then we have a problem. This took place in Germany, friends. I’m not trying to say we are necessarily headed in that direction, but it is undeniable that one of the first things Hitler did was to grab, so to speak, the minds of the youth. And once he was able to instill in those young minds his own ideals and his own philosophy and that of the Nazi Party, then the rest of it was pretty much a piece of cake. It was a cakewalk to go through once you had the minds of the schoolchildren at every age level.

It is likewise just as dangerous what we are witnessing today. And it’s obvious that the liberals in this country are going to be fighting tooth and nail to protect the public school system from getting out from underneath their total, absolute, totalitarian control. If it gets out of their control, they not only lose the minds of the children in this country, but they also lose enormous financial resources, as the teachers’ unions are the number one biggest supporter politically to liberal ideology. So there’s a lot at stake for the liberals to continue their clutch on the public school system.

Public schools are a feature of every modern democratic nation in the entire world, for crying out loud. Why haven’t they all turned into Nazis?

    American Exceptionalism.

School curricula is set by the state. Is Hice opposed to state’s rights?

If school kids were brainwashed it would have been because every single facet of their lives was exposed nonstop to propaganda that extolled the greatness of Hitler and the Nazis because…wait for it…adults elected him and allowed him the authority to do these things.

Of all the causes of all the evils of Hitler, I doubt that kids brainwashed in schools any greater a factor than anything else.

  • Chiroptera

Oh, and as long as we’re on the “if Hitler did it, it must be evil” meme, you know what else Hitler did? He bombed other countries.

  • dhall

#4 – And he had the autobahn system built, which we copied as the interstate highway system. So I guess the interstates are Nazi thaings too. And Volkswagens . . .

  • D. C. Sessions

Oh, and as long as we’re on the “if Hitler did it, it must be evil” meme

Breaking the power of trade unions?

    Imprisoning homosexuals?

Giving military weapons to the police?

    Pursuing a white supremacist agenda?

    Voter suppression?

We talk a lot about cafeteria Christianity, but the same thing WRT Naziism needs a name of its own.

@5 and the running of the Olympic torch

The basic problem people like Hice have is that the public school system attempts to free children from the ignorance of their parents. Hice, why do you hate the children?

“And it’s obvious that the liberals in this country are going to be fighting tooth and nail to protect the public school system from getting out from underneath their total, absolute, totalitarian control. If it gets out of their control…”

Which is why liberals, are stacking school boards to force the ‘teaching’ creationism, forcing children to parrot loyalty oaths to the state and setting up plaques to ensure indoctrination in the ‘right’ religion — Oh wait now.

I thought it was through an organization similar to the Boy Scouts.

There’s been public school in the U.S for what, over 200 years? Using Hice’s logic, why aren’t we all a bunch of goosestepping, Obamacare loving, liberal fascists (because that’s internally consistent)?

Real Americans are for freeing the public school system. From standards, oversight and labor rights, mostly. The privatized public schools will still accept public money, though, but now it will handed out as dividends, instead of going to the hated Teacher’s Union and their hated tenure (imagine: nowadays it’s almost hard to fire a teacher for being a gayhomo. Or for getting pregnant! Or for refused to teach the facts that evolution is a lie and Jesus is Lord! No. Wait. I mean to say that “it’s impossible to fire incompentent teachers, thanks to tenure!”).

And Hister also reduced unemployment a lot more then Roosevelt did.

Public schools are a feature of every modern democratic nation in the entire world, for crying out loud.

They were a feature of the United States long before Nazi Germany came into being. Talk of public schools as some sort of nefarious power-grabbing scheme is like treating sewage systems, city parks, or professional fire departments as harbingers of tyranny. You’re talking about something that’s not only innocuous, but that’s been around so long that if it were putting us on the road to serfdom, it would have happened a century ago.

The more this shit goes on, the more I’m convinced that nearly everything in contemporary conservatism is really just projection. Their problem with public education is not that it indoctrinates kids, which is idiotic to anyone who’s ever attended one, but that it interferes with their indoctrination of kids.

    Re Dingojack @ #16

I am glad that the Chihuahua asked that question.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hister

By the way, there is no article shown before Hister in the French language quote from Nostradamus so the insertion of an article in the English translation is disingenuous. Thus the argument that he was referring to the Danube is, at the least, questionable.

Some Americans have understood the danger to our liberties posed by public schools for centuries. That’s why some parts of the country have resisted instituting them and only did so under compulsion after the War of Northern Aggression. Even then, they did their best to keep their most vulnerable (and especially the weak-witted) children form being corrupted by them.

Hice is just coming out and publicly saying what Georgians have known for generations.

  • John Pieret

Obviously, if we have government — which is what the public school is — if we have government indoctrinating what students are learning, then we have a problem.

Well, thank goodness! At last we have a politician willing to stand up against the nefarious plans of some local governments to indoctrinate students with things like Christian prayers and the Ten Commandments and distributing Bibles in public schools!

Don’t worry, Mr. Hice! We Constitution-believing Americans are right behind you!

    Mr. Hice? … Mr. Hice???

  • Mobius

    Nazi Germany had public restrooms.

So having public restrooms is just like living in Nazi Germany.

    AmIright???

(It’s the same sort of “logic”.)

  • howardhershey

So Thomas Jefferson (his founding UVA is on his tombstone and he advocated for free public elementary education) and George Washington (signed the Northwest Ordinance of 1786, which started Ohio University and set aside a portion of land whose sale was to support lower levels of public education) were Nazis?

Or was public education alright so long as it was explicitly teaching Protestant religion (the reason why we have a Catholic school system)?
