Can We Just Put Bob Beckel Out to Pasture, Please?

Bob Beckel, former Democratic campaign consultant turned annoying token “liberal” on Fox News, has always been an irritating git. But his response to the video showing a woman being continuously catcalled and harassed on the streets of New York City is the last straw.

Fox News host Bob Beckel responded to a recent video showing a New York City woman experiencing street harassment by adding a catcall of his own on Wednesday, Media Matters reported.

“She got 100 catcalls, let me add 101,” Beckel said of Shoshana B. Roberts. “Damn, baby, you’re a piece of woman.”…

But Beckel’s male co-panelist, Eric Boller and Greg Gutfeld, argued that the majority of remarks aimed at Roberts in the video were actually complimentary.

“There were, probably, no doubt jerks in there,” Gutfeld said. “But you can’t throw all men into a pile.”

“She’s a good-looking babe,” Beckel interjected. “Wouldn’t you say something?”

Way to objectify her in response to a video about being objectified. What an asshole. Can we just put this idiot out to pasture now, please?

I response to his (presumably rhetorical) question… NO. I would not say anything.

Here’s a clue: would you “greet” a man on the street similarly?

I wear a hat when I’m outdoors, such as walking down the street. When I encouter people, I touch the brim and nod slightly. Men, women, old, young — they get a greeting if they’re looking for one and if not, I’m easy to ignore.

Somehow “Hey, Babe!” doesn’t strike me as the way they’d greet the neigborhood cop. Or derelict.

To my mind this is just as bad as Beckel. Talk about not getting it — sheesh!

I bet their viewpoint on such things would change a lot if it were suddenly a gay man paying them ‘compliments’ while they were walking down the street.

I do. I get in to a lot of fights.

Damn, baby, you’re a piece of woman

Just a piece? Looks like entire woman to me … with a brain and everything. Too bad Beckel can’t say the same about himself.

Beckel is a “liberal”? He may be an example that, if you hang around with conservatives (especially for money) long enough, the stupid may be catching.

    …thestupid may be catching.

Should we quarantine them then? Out of concern for the community, of course.

Your tip is bizarre, as it rests on the premise that one should act exactly the same toward every single person they meet. Heterosexuals are going to treat attractive strangers of the opposite sex differently than other individuals, mutatis mutandis with homosexuals. Similarly, one would treat a cop differently than a random stranger. Treating everyone exactly the same is Harrison Bergeron-level stupid.

    Fantasizing again Greg?
