Fischer: Anti-Gay Bigots Are Born That Way

Bryan Fischer doesn’t think that a person’s sexual orientation is an innate characteristic, but he does think that the hatred of and desire to discriminate against people on the basis of their sexual orientation is innate because God put it there in all of us.

“Sodomy is the technically, lexically, medically, legally correct term, you can find the term sodomy – it’s an ugly word because it refers to an ugly practice,” he said. “There’s a reason we recoil from that word. It’s not the word, it’s what it describes, it’s what it refers to. We have a natural revulsion to that kind of behavior just as we do. We got that from God. God reacts the same way to homosexual behavior, to sodomy, as we do.”

Right. Because that would explain why so many men are turned on by two women having sex. And why public opinion on the subject had shifted so dramatically in such a short period of time. Because God baked bigotry right into the recipe for human beings. Makes perfect sense.

He seems to be under the impression that sodomy simply means “gay sex.” That’s not accurate. I always wonder what he thinks of straight people who engage in sodomy. I’m sure he simply pretends we don’t exist.

I think Rogers and Hammerstein had it exactly right.

“You’ve got to be carefully taught.”

You know, when I realized I had a natural revulsion to heterosexual behavior, I figured it was because I was gay, not because there was anything fundamentally wrong with straight people doing the nasty. As for the exact sexual actions over which Fischer obsesses so much – perhaps someone could tell him that there is literally nothing a gay or lesbian couple has ever done in (or out of) bed that some straight person hasn’t tried too.

I can’t remember my source, but I read recently that the definition of sodomy has shifted over the last century or two. It used to mean any variation of sexual gratification that did not have a procreative potential. So that would seem to include lots of mutual and even solitary forms of sex. Oh, no, I’m a sodomite!

    @CPT

That would require Fischer to have empathy and compassion, two traits he was clearly born without.

I seem to remember that there’s a verse that goes “this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom”, and that the actual text of Genesis suggests that a hospitality violation was involved.

I also seem to remember that the only source explicitly naming the sin of Sodom as buttsex is the Koran.

Is Bryan Fischer a secret Muslim?

So stupidity and assholishness should be recognized as disabilities requiring accommodation under the ADA?

So ‘teh ghey’ not from god…Bad!

    ‘teh bigots’ from god…Good!

Thanks for clearing that puzzle up Bryan, folks were unsure!

By the same logic, the term “Bryan Fischer” is ugly because it refers to an ugly practice.

Yes, our natural revulsion to sodomy is right next to our innate knowledge that there is a God.

JamesY2 seems to be remembering Ezekiel 16:49 -:-

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy;and they were haughty and committed abomination before Me.

Sounds like income inequality to me.

    FTFY.

Oral sex is considered sodomy, maybe Brynie needs a good BJ to help him change his mind–oh wait, he probably has had lots of them, so its just that icky gay sex he’ so upset about

  • RickR

This is just more dehumanization from The Fisch. Anti-gay bigotry is an innate trait in humans, therefore, if you aren’t an anti-gay bigot, you aren’t human.

    Easy peasy!

I feel that way about the word “slavery.”

And I know I’ve said this before, but if the idea of gay sex really makes you feel that badly, it’s actually latent-homosexuality. He’s fighting against it so hard because if it were not so, he wouldn’t be able to control himself from participating.

    .

I beg to differ. While that certainly can happen, mostly it’s just the fundamentalist mindset who doesn’t and can’t understand that making him queasy is not the same as being immoral.

    .

Informed consent, of course, has nothing to do with it. Morality as the Fundy consciously thinks of it*, is obedience to the King, and showing respect to his representatives**.

    .

    * It’s pure coincidence that that which makes him feel queasy is stuff that God has forbidden. God doesn’t care about shrimp salads anymore.

** All self-appointed, of course. You’ll know them when they see you.
