Savage Attacks Loretta Lynch, Demands Senate Rejection

Michael Savage has fired up the outrage machine and is demanding that the Senate Republicans refuse to confirm her as attorney general on the specious grounds that she’s a “radical” and a “left-wing ideologue.” Of course, in Savage’s world, anyone to the left of Pol Pot is a radical leftist.

“What a telling name, Lynch – a lynch mob is about to take over,” Savage said. “This woman is a radical that should never be confirmed for the Attorney General’s office. She is as dangerous if not more dangerous than Holder. She has no business in the Attorney General’s office; she is an extreme left-wing ideologue. Just understand what’s at stake: If he puts this one in, we’re going to have two years of Hell in this country.”

Savage especially took issue with Lynch’s opposition to new laws restricting voting rights, which disproportionately affect African-Americans, calling her a “radical leftist” pawn of Al Sharpton who is “too biased to be an Attorney General.”

Bear in mind that this is a woman who was confirmed as a U.S. Attorney twice by a unanimous vote in the Senate. It’s a little hard to make the case that she’s suddenly too radical for the DOJ.

Never mind that that kind of “radical leftism” (disproportionate effect) not long ago constituted a working majority of both Houses of Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court, or that (at least until repealed by Team Republican) it is the law of the land. So standing up for it is precisely the duty of Federal attorneys.

And what evidence does Savage (What a telling name, “Savage” … especially since he chose it) have that she is an extreme left-wing ideologue? Because she is against voter suppression laws? The DOJ has been fighting those since the 1964 Voting Rights Act. Even is he disagrees, it is hardly out of the mainstream.

Oh, wait a minute … this is Michael Savage … he doesn’t need any evidence beyond the voices echoing in his head.

Not that that’s going to stop them from trying. And they’ll do that over and over again, to anyone nominated by the president, all the way down the list.

In short, what I’m saying is that the next head of the DoJ will be Jefferson Davis.(*1)

    *3. And a government shutdown.

Eh? I’m not sure wanted Pol Pot as your example of a right wing dictator (that is what you were going for I assume) wren’t the Khmer Rouge basically a communist group who thought Mao’s cultural revolution didn’t go far enough?

Strangely, I don’t remember learning much about Pol Pot’s actual ideology in history class, but I do remember learning that the main reason that the US (and many of its allies) supported him so strongly was that the communist government in North Vietnam were strongly opposed to him. That seems to suggest that he wasn’t particularly communist.

  • Childermass

Should that not be anyone to the left of Hitler? Pol Pot was, at least, officially, communist and he certainly mingled with bona fide communists like Nicolae Ceaușescu. As he was a dictator, I don’t think he needed to game the Chinese Communist Party has of having to pretend to be still communist but in reality being a corporate-statist mix.

Ed, I fear that you given the wing nuts something to quote.

  • dan4

Ed, you seriously believe that Pol Pot was a RIGHT-winger? Maybe you should learn a little more about Pol Pot.

Oh, hey, look…a 1-dimensional political spectrum fails miserably to actually provide any useful description. Shit, that’s surprising.

She was nominated by Obama. QED

Republican logic: Skipping over those boring steps of evidence and deduction.

  • felidae

Obviously, the criteria for her disqualification are: too many x chromosomes, too much melanin in her skin and being nominated by Obama

Of course, in Savage’s world, anyone to the left of Pol Pot is a radical leftist.

As Pol Pot was a Stalinist Marxist, surely anyone to the left of Pol Pot is a radical leftist

  • lpetrich

Why Pol Pot? Why not King George III? From an American standpoint, it’s hard to get more right wing than King George III.

  • scienceavenger

@2 And what evidence does Savage … have that she is an extreme left-wing ideologue?

Well just look at her. [Bill O’Reilly voice] He said that she is an extreme left-wing ideologue because she looks like an extreme left-wing ideologue.
