King Compares Scalise to Jesus

Rep. Steve Scalise, the third most powerful Republican in the House who is enmeshed in controversy over having spoken to a white supremacist conference when he was a state legislator in Louisiana, has found at least one ally in Rep. Steve King, who says Scalise is just like Jesus.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), a leading conservative in the House, said in an interview Monday that he stood by Scalise and believed that many conservatives in the House’s hard-right bloc would do the same.

“Jesus dined with tax collectors and sinners,” King said. “It’s not the healthy who need a doctor, it’s the sick. Given that piece of Scripture, and understanding that Scalise probably wasn’t staffed thoroughly, I could understand how something like this happened. But I know his heart, I’ve painted houses with him post-Katrina, and I know he is a good man.”

So which is it? Was he being like Jesus and going to meet with sinners and bad people to urge them to change their ways? Or was he just a clueless guy who didn’t know who he was meeting with? It can’t be both.

If he is just like Jesus, does this mean we get to scourge him, and nail him up on a cross?

  • Loqi

Good to know he sees Jesus almost as often as he sees Satan, the Gay Agenda, and communists.

    It can’t be both.

Come, come! We’re talking about Steve King here. Believing that Scalise was there to reform the white supremacists while not knowing they were white supremacists is a snap for King, just like he can believe that Obama is an evil genius about to take over America and the world while also believing he is an incompetent boob who can’t do anything right.

I am personally shocked by the revelation that Jesus only dined with sinners because he was poorly staffed.

Wow. I could almost (almost) wish for the existence of a god if only that Steve King would go to hell for that breathless and morally bankrupt perversion of the intent of those Scriptures…..so presumably Scalise went to save David Duke’s soul and not pander for votes. He came down from his little Mount Sinai to preach against the evils of their ways? *spits*

Hey if it was a good enough excuse for Barack Obama to meet with Donnie McClurkin it oughta be good enough for our lord and savior, not to mention Steve Scalise.

If you sleep with dogs, you get fleas. More likely, Scalise went there because they were his kind of volk.

@ 4. Reginald Selkirk : Well having read the whole story there, in fairness Jesus did eventually listen to and heal the Canaanite woman :

    Matthew 15:28

Jesus answered, ‘Woman, you have great faith. Let what you want be done for you.’ And her daughter was healed from that hour.

Not sure if that outweighs the earlier comment but ..
