Bresciani: SCOTUS Will Destroy America With Marriage Equality

Michael Bresciani, a self-declared “prophet” who thinks he speaks directly to God, has a dire warning over the Supreme Court’s acceptance of appeals in four cases involving state bans on same-sex marriage. If it allows gay people to get married, he says, America can’t possibly survive.

After more than 40 years of the fruit of Roe v Wade and the resulting 55 million deaths of unborn humans we are now on the precipice of another action that will put the cap on our full national reprobation.

We have allowed the gay agenda to flourish in the American psyche and promoted it with a grand lack of perspicaciousness and common sense. We have introduced it to our children in education, and the weak minded, who get all life’s cues from pop-culture influences like TV, films and media.

While we watch closely the raging battle between the executive and legislative branches of our government, could it be that we have not noticed that the judicial branch has done more to wound our nation than the other two combined?

The most de-humanizing ruling to ever become part of law for any nation on earth has been Roe v. Wade. Now, the most perverted and un-Godly decision hangs in the balance. Same sex marriage is in direct defiance to the revealed Word of God from one cover of the scriptures to the next. We may ignore it, but it will not ignore us…

America has little left that would come under the heading of – ‘things that could stay God’s hand of judgment against us.’

This message is short, howbeit, not so sweet; it can and will spell the beginning of the end for this nation if we choose this course.

It will take more than a few heartwarming anecdotal stories following our violence filled newscasts to offset the fact that we are running out of anything recognizable as redeeming – coming from this once noble nation.

I can say without reservation, that if marriage is perverted in this way, you have only one thing left to do – count time, for there is very little left to promise and guarantee the survival of our nation.

You can almost hear the scary music building to a crescendo as you read that, can’t you? It’s amazing how many things that were supposed to destroy the country because they would make God mad have happened and the country has not only survived but been made better in nearly every way. The Texas declaration of secession at the start of the Civil War made the same claim about ending slavery:

We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themselves and their posterity; that the African race had no agency in their establishment; that they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race, and in that condition only could their existence in this country be rendered beneficial or tolerable.

That in this free government *all white men are and of right ought to be entitled to equal civil and political rights* [emphasis in the original]; that the servitude of the African race, as existing in these States, is mutually beneficial to both bond and free, and is abundantly authorized and justified by the experience of mankind, and the revealed will of the Almighty Creator, as recognized by all Christian nations; while the destruction of the existing relations between the two races, as advocated by our sectional enemies, would bring inevitable calamities upon both and desolation upon the fifteen slave-holding states.

The same was said of giving women the right to vote. R.C. Walsh, in his book Anti-Woman Suffrage and Criticisms, quotes many Bible verses about women being subjugated to men and argues:

We should try to evade the wrath of God, which is for the children of disobedience spoken of in the fifth chapter of Ephesians, sixth verse: Let no man deceive you with vain words, for, because of these, cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience…

God from the beginning has placed the authority in the man’s hands and is looking to the man to rule, and has shown that the woman’s place is a place of meekness and subjection. God has given the man superior strength; he also has given him the inventive mind and something like equal numbers, so he would have no reasonable excuse for not ruling, and I believe service is what he wants and expects and not excuses.

I am calling your attention to these things because I believe it very necessary to heed them. We are being pushed away from God because of ignorance and the blinding and forceful influence of the stampede for fame, fortune and power.

The same was said of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Loving v Virginia, that allowing those of different races to mix was against the will of God and would bring down his wrath. The trial judge actually wrote in his ruling:

Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And, but for the interference with his arrangement, there would be no cause for such marriage. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.

And yet almost no one today would find these declarations anything but inane and none of the predicted calamities came true. In fact, our nation is far better off as a result of all of them. The Christian right, always eager to support whatever injustices and inequalities currently exist, are the wingnuts who cried wolf over and over again for the past 225 years. And there still isn’t any wolf.

If it allows gay people to get married, he says, America can’t possibly survive.

Well, that is reassuring. These self proclaimed prophets are almost always wrong!!!

It’s almost like…they are just Making It Up.

PS This would be an example of collective punishment. God destroying 319 million people because of a few gay marriages. Even we humans don’t do this very often and we know it is wrong. Humans are better than this guy’s god which is saying a lot since we’ve set the bar so low.

Brsciani’s god is quite literally a sockpuppet god. I don’t find sockpuppets to be worth paying attention to.

    music building to a crescendo

As a musician this phrase drives me bonkers. I know lots of people say it, and I know some sources allow this usage now, but please, please, please: “crescendo” is Italian for “growing.” A crescendo in music is the process of growing louder, not the arrival point or climax. You don’t build to a crescendo, you make a crescendo to a louder dynamic.

Canada has had marriage equality for years, and now our oil-based economy is collapsing. Explain that without God’s anger, Mr. Atheist Pants!

How many thousands of kids die every day of malnutrition or diseases that could be prevented with relatively inexpensive vaccines? His Bible-monster seems to be OK with that happening; but if a guy puts his pee-pee somewhere he has declared off limits, this deity just goes red with rage, throws a temper tantrum and wants to start smiting people and destroying shit.

What, is this god 3 years old, or something?

55 million seems kind of low. I jacked off this morning and killed about 280 million unborn humans.

America has little left that would come under the heading of – ‘things that could stay God’s hand of judgment against us.’

Gee, you’d think God would warm up his hand of judgment by smiting Massachusetts for its decade long direct defiance to the revealed Word of God … not to mention Canada and the Netherlands and …

This is consistent with the obvious prediction that conservative Christians will some day blame the damage from global warming on whomever they’re most active in hating at the time.

Some day conservative Christians will no longer be able to deny the impact of global warming. Many, particularly the demagogues and their most useful sheep, will then l point back to certain milestones such as the normalization of gay marriage and then falsely claim their prophecy was “proven” true.

A good example of how this has sort of faux-hindcasting has worked in the past is the absurd claim that God wrought Katrina on New Orleans because of a future festival that was being sponsored by gay people and their supporters.

almost no one today would find these declarations anything but insane

    The same was said…

In addition to your US examples, Ed, the same kind of rhetoric was used for decades to justify hostilities between Catholic and Protestants, as well as between Protestants. Thousands died in the Wars of the Reformation, many at the hands of their neighbors, for having the wrong (according to the government of the time) lifestyle choice. Our appreciation for freedom of religion, and our forefathers understanding both of the human cost of those conflict and that religious orthodoxy could not be imposed by a government, gave us the First Amendment.

“Same sex marriage is in direct defiance to the revealed Word of God from one cover of the scriptures to the next”

    Irrelevant. See: 14th amendment.

“‘things that could stay God’s hand of judgment against us.’…”

The dreaded Hand of Judgment. Not again!

So this guy is “afraid” that SCOTUS will find that SSM is Constitutional? Well…I hope he’s right and they do.

As for the Texas quote–the part about “all Christian nations”–Britain dropped slavery in the 1840s, so the Texans were wrong when they wrote it, and probably knew it.

This is true. We also lack a laser with which to shoot down Superman and our Batman detector is on the fritz.

No, no! You misunderstand! All “Christian nations” thought and acted like Texans so when the British outlawed slavery, it automatically stopped being a “Christian nation.” Just like any “Christian church” that isn’t as rabidly homophobic as Bresciani aren’t True Christians™.

Anti-gay activists are always quick to point out the small proportion of people who are homosexuals (as if that meant they shouldn’t have rights), and blamed same sex marriage on just a handful of liberal Obama-judges (even the ones appointed by Reagan or a Bush).

Do they really think their God will destroy America and punish all his loyal followers because of the actions of these few?

    What a jerk!

Even they have to notice that all those tornadoes sent to punish the wicked manage to indiscriminately strike the heart of the Bible Belt without any turns or hops to avoid the righteous.

America has little left that would come under the heading of – ‘things that could stay God’s hand of judgment against us.’…

In Genesis, 50 good guys in the way of the wrecking ball would have done the trick, even before Abraham began haggling the number down.

The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.” [Genesis 18:26, NIV]

We are running out of True Christians and (hopefully) people willing to indulge the ravings of self-appointed prophets.
