Santorum Pretends to Embrace the Faux Persecution

Rick Santorum told CNSNews that Christians should welcome persecution as a blessing because it fulfills the predictions of scripture. Does he mean it? Of course not. If he meant that, he’d stop complaining about all that persecution he falsely thinks is going on.

CNSNews: “Conservatives often get disillusioned because they feel they are fighting a losing battle. What words of encouragement would you give them to keep going or to keep fighting?”

Santorum: “I know how these stories end, and if you’re a believer you all know how it ends. And we know the good guys win, truth wins.

“And so your job is to just focus on being faithful, standing by the truth, fighting for the truth, understanding the world is broken, and that they will hate you and persecute you because you stand for Him and what He taught.

“And that’s a great blessing, not something to be avoided but something to be embraced.”

So if it’s a great blessing, you’re telling your fellow wingnuts to stop complaining about it, right? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Of course, it’s so much easier to proclaim persecution to be a blessing when there isn’t any actual persecution happening. If he were in a Muslim country where he might actually be seriously persecuted, this kind of rhetoric would sound pretty dumb. But it’s easy to pretend to accept and embrace fake persecution. You get to declare yourself to be very courageous in the face of…nothing at all.

You get to declare yourself to be very courageous in the face of…nothing at all.

hardly. The persecution of infringed privilege is the worst kind of persecution.

I do so wish I could tell these people “I told you so” after they die and nothing happens.

    Plus, it builds character.

It seems persecution these days is getting the vapors when someone says to you “Fuck you and the horse you rode in on” after, uninvited, telling them that they’re going to hell. Not at all the same as burning someone at the stake, gassing them in ovens, or hanging them from a tree after dragging them from their house in the middle of the night.

    Rick Santorum states:

I know how these stories end, and if you’re a believer you all know how it ends.

This astonishing failure in both character and thinking shouldn’t be ignored. Instead it should be held up as a primary reason no moral reasonable person should consider him worthy of any station in life that requires some modicum of integrity or thinking skills.

The fundies have a problem. Their religion is based on and driven by persecution. The problem is that there is so little real persecution that they have to manufacture it. Otherwise they’d have nothing to feel noble about.

Perhaps Prince Charles could appeal to the King of America to commute Santorum’s sentence to 1000 lashes for his beliefs. Oh wait, that’s a different thead and a different persecuted person.

    Yeah, we sure do.

This is part of the End Times prophecies. The believers all go up to the hilltops to wait for jesus. Jesus never shows up. They do it again a year later. This has been happening for 2,000 years.

Fool me once it is your doing. Fool me a few dozen times and…I'm a kooky xian.

Santorum: Satan is Systematically Destroying America …

    www. rightwingwatch .org/…/santorum-satan-systematically-destroying-a…

Feb 16, 2012 – Back in 2008, Rick Santorum traveled to Ave Maria University in Florida to … If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age.

    wikiquotes Satanorum

This is not a political war at all. This is not a cultural war at all. This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies, Satan, would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country, the United States of America.

The place where he was, in my mind, the most successful, and first successful, was in academia. He understood pride of smart people. He attacked them at their weakest, that they were in fact smarter than everybody else, and could come up with something new and different, pursue new truths, deny the existence of truth, play with it, because they’re smart. And so academia, a long time ago, fell..

Rick Satanorum is a veritable fount of crackpot quotes. At Ave Maria U. he claimed that satan was going to try to destroy the USA.

And when he was called on it it doubled down. While satan is destroying the USA, he took over the universities long ago. Satanorum hates college students and universities although strangely enough, he has three university degrees that he uses to make millions of dollars with.

    Satanorum:

And of course we look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is a shambles. It is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it.

He thinks Mainline Protestants are Fake Xians. No wonder they don’t like him.

Guy is a hypocrite with a warped mind.

“And we know the good guys win, truth wins”

And that is why gay marriage is the reality in 37 states now. But Mr. Frothy Arrogance can’t accept that he’s wrong. They’ve taken hate and lies and call it Truth (TM) and never ever question their own assumptions or hypocrisy.

  • scienceavenger

It’s so simple even you can understand it Rick.

We don’t hate you because you’re a Christian.

We hate you because you’re stupid.

I think he means that American-style persecution, which involves nothing more than sometimes being ridiculed when they wander out of the bubbles of their churches and right wing media, being made to obey laws that everyone else has to obey and failing to get their way when they throw a tantrum, is a “blessing.” How much worse would it be if they had to be beaten, jailed or executed in order to be a martyr for Jeeebus?
