Dinesh D’Souza Criticizes Someone Else’s Conduct

Good ol’ Dinesh D’Souza. He’s quite bothered by President Obama making a funny video of himself using a selfie stick, so much so that he took to Twitter to complain about it using racially charged language, referring to Obama as a “boy” from the “ghetto.”

When criticized for it, he said, “I know Obama wasn’t actually raised in a ghetto–I’m using the term metaphorically, to suggest his unpresidential conduct.” Hey, this is just like the time he criticized President Bush for making funny videos for the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. Remember that? Of course you don’t because it didn’t happen. It’s only “vulgar” and “unpresidential” when someone he doesn’t like does it.

Should I also point out that the guy who was fired from his $1 million dollar a year job as president of a Christian university for cheating on his wife (with a woman who was also married) and who is now spending his nights sleeping at a halfway house because he committed a felony probably should shut the fuck up about other peoples’ conduct? Not to mention, someone who does this:

As if only ghetto kids do selfies.

He’s got a point. I remember back when I was a boy in the ghetto. To join the toughest gang, the 134th Street YOLOs, we’d have to film a funny video of ourselves.

And what’s this about a “vulgar man?” Obama looks like a clean and well-dressed middle-aged parent trying to be cool and hip with his teenage kids’ new tech toys, in a posh-looking room of some sort. There’s nothing “vulgar” about this, and D’Sozzled would have to be a flaming racist to use that word in this context. Like the kind of guy who automatically thinks all people of a certain skin color are uncouth, uncivilized and uneducated no matter where they went to school.

If Mr Obama were to say “Thank you” to a waiter, he(Obama) would be criticized for not getting his own food. Nevermind that if he did serve himself, he’d be criticized for being “unpresidential” and “cheating hardworking people out of waiting jobs”.

And in both cases there’d be criticism about the tip.

    @3:

And what’s this about a “vulgar man?”

Well, yeah! Its totally vulgar for a President of the United States to have that skin tone.

  • marcus

    Boy? BOY?

Would they call a fucking crocodile a gecko where you come from?

    What a dumbass.

  • matty1

Dammit, if D’Souza hates selfie sticks does this mean I have to like them now?

  • blf

A 7 metre one tonne gecko scurrying up the wall and across the ceiling would be a rather amazing sight. It’d probably collapse the wall the ceiling, mind you…

    And then eat you.

    What an asshole.

    Justa Slob “What an asshole.”

Exactly. I’m a little surprised he’s not more successful.

I wouldn’t say Dinesh’s dance video was vulgar, just embarrassing. Obama’s selfie video was simply cute. A fun way to market the healthcare sign up. Nothing remotely vulgar about it.

Before or after saving me 15% on armored limo insurance?

Before or after saving me 15% on armored limo insurance?

Wouldn’t work. Even an armoured limo wouldn’t tempt a 7 metre one tonne gecko into trying to eat Dimwit D’abSurda. He’s too toxic.

    What an asshole.

You can take the asshole away from the Dartmouth Review but you can never remove the bullying, arrogant crap in which the Review specialized from the asshole.

You probably know this, but referring to a black man as “boy”, no matter how old he is, was a means by which Southern racists would emasculate blacks. It denied them their manhood and reminded them of their inferior status. Next to “nigger”, there’s not much worse you could call a black man.

D’Souza may well be completely ignorant of this, but I doubt it. He’s bordering on Klan territory here.

  • doublereed

What? What about “ghetto” goes with “selfie”? That’s just…. that’s just totally random. It’s almost too stupid to be racist.

D’Souza has been pushing back, saying that accusations of racism are “the first refuge of the liberal scoundrel.” I also saw some site that was praising him for “trolling liberals.”

Exactly. It’s yet another dog-whistle for “N****r in the White House.” A black man in that environment should be wearing livery and saying “yes, massah.”

To add to the irony, a lot of people would lump D’Souza into the same ethic category as Obama.

  • http://www.ranum.com Marcus Ranum

That suit Obama is wearing is equisitely tailored, subtle and matches his tie perfectly. And he’s in the oval office not spraying cum on an intern. Vulgar indeed.

  • fishnguy

Well at least Obama does’nt have a criminal record, unlike this clown.

I wish they could make up their minds as to whether the comments were 1) perfectly acceptable, or 2) unacceptably offensive for the purpose of provoking a reaction.

This joker used to date Ann Coulter, and it shows, because this was precisely her schtick. Say something indecent and insulting, then deny there was anything wrong with it while congratulating yourself for making them mad.

“I know Obama wasn’t actually raised in a ghetto–I’m using the term metaphorically, to suggest his unpresidential conduct.”

Cause he TOTALLY would have used this particular language if Obama wasn’t African American. Asshole.

  • nycatheist

In what way could this not be racist? I think he’s just trying to remind his halfwit audience that he is not himself black.

    Observer #11:

Obama’s selfie video was simply cute.

    Er, no.

Mr. Obama is the president of the USA. And as such, per definition, he is also a bloody murderer. Literally. Therefore nothing that he does is ever “simply cute”, everything he does must be scrutinised. An ulterior motive must always be presumed (for instance: trying to look cute).

But you’re right, at least it wasn’t vulgar.

  • marcus

Area Man @ 20 I do indeed know this, having grown up in the South. My comment is a paraphrase of my black friends’ standard reply to anyone who had the temerity to use the term “boy” in their general direction.
