Beck Flips Out Over Latest Bit of Right Wing Paranoia

On Tuesday, Judicial Watch, the group created by Larry Klayman (who was later ousted by his own board of directors), published an article on their website claiming that ISIS has set up two terrorist training camps right across the Mexican border and are smuggling people in to the country to mount attacks. All based on two unnamed sources.

ISIS is operating a camp just a few miles from El Paso, Texas, according to Judicial Watch sources that include a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector.

The exact location where the terrorist group has established its base is around eight miles from the U.S. border in an area known as “Anapra” situated just west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Another ISIS cell to the west of Ciudad Juárez, in Puerto Palomas, targets the New Mexico towns of Columbus and Deming for easy access to the United States, the same knowledgeable sources confirm.

During the course of a joint operation last week, Mexican Army and federal law enforcement officials discovered documents in Arabic and Urdu, as well as “plans” of Fort Bliss – the sprawling military installation that houses the US Army’s 1st Armored Division. Muslim prayer rugs were recovered with the documents during the operation.

Given Judicial Watch’s connection to reality, which is tenuous at best, I would suggest taking this report with a metric ton of salt. But even if it’s true, the Mexican government would obviously have shared this information with our government. What do they think is going to happen, we’re just going to ignore it and let them attack a major military installation or other civilian targets? Of course not, we’d go in and take them out (as we should). But Glenn Beck, among other right wing blowhards, is absolutely losing his mind over it and predicting that it’s going to lead to the dissolution of America:

As Beck explained it, everyone knows that the southern border is not secure, making it easy for terrorists to easily cross into this country. And when these terrorists cross over and finally carry out an attack in America, it’ll unleash the “Bubba Effect,” which is Beck’s theory that an “overbearing government” is pushing people over the edge until they respond with violence, which will then spiral out of control and result in the wholesale breakdown of society.

“This will lead to the Bubba Effect,” he said. “That when the Feds finally come in and they’re trying to tell you how to live your life and something bad has happened, some big terrorist strike and they’re telling you what you have to do to prepare while they’re washing their hands of the terrorist strike, while they’re blaming it on everything but them. While they’re telling you that you’re going to have to change your life and adjust, somebody is going to stand up and say, ‘Go to Hell. I’m not doing what you are telling me to do because you knew about this the whole time and you did nothing!'”

“They came across our southern border and we were the ones telling you to seal our southern border and you did nothing,” Beck screamed. “So go to Hell. That’s going to happen and it’s not going to happen with just a group; it’s going to happen with a group of states. They will say enough is enough. You did nothing to protect us.”

“That’s why they’re watching us,” he continued. “They’re more afraid of the people than they are ISIS.”

“ISIS is here,” he concluded, somberly. “ISIS is here.”

So Glenn, is America going to dissolve before or after we get involved in World War III with Russia and Iran and ISIS? Because that was the last ridiculous prediction you made. But if America dissolves — if this prediction comes true — that cancels out your previous ones. Either way, I’m sure you’ll claim to have predicted it all. That’s an easy thing to do when you make a million contradictory predictions.

Well, Glenn, you’ve been over the edge for a long time now and all you’ve responded with is more stupid.

Very likely to be a complete lie. I wouldn’t believe it unless there is outside corroboration from real sources.

I’ve tried to trace down some of Beck’s more dubious stories. They are just lies that he either makes up or more often, someone else makes up and he repeats.

The border that isn’t secure is the longer US-Canadian border. Terrorists have been caught crossing there.

Ressam rented a dark green 1999 Chrysler 300M luxury sedan, and on the evening of December 13, Ressam and Dahoumane hid the explosives and all the related components in the wheel well in the car’s trunk.[1][7][25] On December 14, they left Vancouver, traveling to Victoria, British Columbia. Believing that he would draw less scrutiny alone, Ressam sent Dahoumane back to Vancouver by bus.[1][10][17][23]

Ressam took the M/V Coho car ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles, Washington.[9][10] He successfully passed through U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service checks in Victoria, and boarded the last ferry of the day for the 90-minute crossing to the U.S.[7][18][26]

An explosives expert concluded that the materials in his car could have produced a blast 40x greater than that of a devastating car bomb.[1][10] It was ultimately determined that he had intended to detonate the explosives at the Los Angeles International Airport.[9]

There are Americans who still believe, despite it being utterly incorrect, that the 911 terrorists entered the US through Canada. Betcha Beck is one of them.

    During?

Snark aside though, what a load of cobblers Beck spews and how the fuck does this whackjob get and seemingly hold such a big audience?

Last time the wingnuts were screaming about “prayer rugs” found along the border, didn’t it turn out to be a football jersey? I’m going out on a limb here, but I think just maybe Glenn Beck is completely full of shit.

If the border is so insecure how come the crime rates in cities either side are so different?

Those are in ear monitors. They are usually used by musicians because they don’t cause feedback with the microphones, and rock stars look silly wearing headphones. They are molded to the inside of your ear, and offer sound reduction too.

I have no idea why a guy in a studio would need them though, except that he thinks it looks cool.

I happen to work with a couple of guys from Central America. Both are here legally, but they know plenty who aren’t. Most like the US. Love it even. That’s one reason they come here to work. If there were really Middle Eastern terrorists lurking off the boarder, they’d stick out like a sore thumb in Mexico and the locals would tip off the Feds. They don’t want any terrorists here just about as badly as we don’t.

Of course, it would humanize the Central American folk to think of them as being on our side, so it’s a twofer for the rednecks. Evil terrorists and those brown folk who’d like nothing more than to see them succeed.
