Michigan Business Vows to Discriminate Against Gay Customers

No, it’s not a pizzeria, bakery or florist this time, it’s an auto shop in Grand Rapids called Dieseltech whose owner has declared on the company’s Facebook page in an incredibly ignorant rant that he will refuse to work on the cars of gay people (apparently he thinks gay people wear signs, so he’ll know them).

Enough is enough.

Our rights as conservative Americans are being squashed more and more everyday. Apparently if you are white (or close to it), you have a job, go to church, and own a gun… That translates into racists, privileged, bigot, conspiracy theorist. Too many of us say nothing. Well, freedom of speech isn’t just for Liberals, THEY are the ones that need to learn to “co-exist”, THEY are the ones who need to WORK to be “equal”

Therefore, in the spirit of freedom (whats left of it) and MY right to operate MY business as I see fit:

Guns ARE allowed at DIESELTEC, so much so in fact that we will offer a discount if you bring in your gun. (“On duty” cops are excluded because thats not their gun, thats my gun bought with my money, off duty absolutely!)

I am a Christian. My company will be run in a way that reflects that. Dishonesty, thievery, immoral behavior, etc. will not be welcomed at MY place of business. (I would not hesitate to refuse service to an openly gay person or persons. Homosexuality is wrong, period. If you want to argue this fact with me then I will put your vehicle together with all bolts and no nuts and you can see how that works.)

We, as a team, work hard for whats ours. We are not protected by unions or contracts. We absolutely MUST provide our customers with a service level that would make them come back or tell their friends about us. We don’t have a “right”, and we are not “entitled” to our pay. We must EARN it.

I am not racists, you are for assuming I am, however, I am really quick to judge… if it acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck…

It IS a free country and I support your right to your opinion, that being said, if you don’t like what I have to say I reserve that same right to tell you to go cry to your momma (cause your daddy would probably smack ya’, better yet, yes, go tell your dad.)

To call this guy a fucking moron would rather dramatically understate the case. And guess what? What he’s doing is perfectly legal. There are no anti-discrimination protections for LGBT people in this state (nor is there a RFRA, by the way, which only underscores my recent point that RFRA is totally irrelevant on this issue if there aren’t already such protections in place). But I’m hoping for some protests and boycotts for this dumbass.

And I’m sure he’ll also deny service to anyone who is divorced. Or who isn’t Christian (worshiping other gods violates the very first commandment!). Or who prays in public. And god forbid a woman should bring in a vehicle less than 60 days after giving birth to a girl because she’s unclean then! Nope, only the gays. How surprising.

Umm … isn’t it the Christian mantra that we are all “sinners”? So he’ll be closing his business so he won’t have to associate with liars, thieves and others who behave “immorally,” right?

“…we will offer a discount if you bring in your gun.”

If you bring bullets, too, and point it at the right person, the whole job is free!!

The owner of Dieseltec: Therefore, in the spirit of freedom (whats left of it) and MY right to operate MY business as I see fit:

Guns ARE allowed at DIESELTEC, so much so in fact that we will offer a discount if you bring in your gun.

I suppose he’s also demanding a bill of sale for the gun so he knows it’s legitimately purchased? A bunch of customers could otherwise buy one gun and share it around in order to rip him off. Hey, course, if he does demand a bill of sale he’ll lose a bunch of customers. What’s a wingnut to do???

By the way: His Facebook page is “currently unavailable.”

if it acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck…

…Phil Robertson will want to shoot it.

  • Katie Anderson

Ford and Cummins are requesting that he stops using their logos at his business. Also “I am not racists, you are for assuming I am, however, I am really quick to judge… if it acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck…” What do you suppose happens if a black man comes in with a gun for his discount?

  • busterggi

” If you want to argue this fact with me then I will put your vehicle together with all bolts and no nuts and you can see how that works”

Now that’s a what I call a true Christian – using threats to demonstrate his love for humanity. Takes after his deity.

How can he repair a car without having opposable thumbs?

  • peterh

He’s in Michigan, right? And I’ll bet 2¢ he heats his house in the winter. Kindling a fire on the sabbath is gin’ this magic book of malarkey he’s so wrought up over. Another 2¢ says some of his clothing is of mixed fibers. And there are at least 600+ more no-no’s, and an additional 2¢ says he’s racked up quite a few of them.

    He’s hoping for $250k isn’t he?

  • blf

he thinks gay people wear signs, so he’ll know them

No, no, the people don’t. The cars do. They are called “license plates”, and anyone having a set attached to their car is obviously not a looney, and there Teh Gay. Because Benghazi.

If the gayhomos have guns, do they get a discount on the work he refuses to do?

  • comfychair

(apparently he thinks gay people wear signs, so he’ll know them)

Would that be the Biblical know them?

    Katie @ #5:

What do you suppose happens if a black man comes in with a gun for his discount?

Don’t be silly, all the black males are supposed to have at least one felony by now (I mean, otherwise, what are we paying all these cops for?) so of course none of them are allowed to even touch a gun.

  • Chiroptera

(“On duty” cops are excluded because thats not their gun, thats my gun bought with my money, off duty absolutely!)

    lol

Did he just insult cops? (Actually, yes, and in fact, if you read closely and see what he’s saying, he’s actually insulted all civil servants and public employees.)

  • Skip White

“On duty” cops are excluded because thats not their gun, thats my gun bought with my money, off duty absolutely

So how would he bill the police to work on a police car, since that’s apparently bought with his money as well? I’m imagining some sort of Grand Theft Auto scenerio where he takes the cop’s gun, because he paid for it, and uses it to order the cop out of his car, because he paid for that, too. Apparently he thinks because he pays some taxes, he owns everything paid for by them.

  • Skip White

Dammit, Chiroptera beat me to it. And, as a public employee/civil servant, I run into a lot of that kind of logic from commenters at my local newspaper’s website. Surprised I haven’t been told what exactly I’m allowed to do with my paycheck, or what my disabled wife can do with her SSDI. They never seem to grasp that what most people pay in taxes overall amounts to a tiny fraction of the budget of any government, be it local, state or federal.

  • Alverant

Actually what he said did have a grain of illegality to it. He said he wouldn’t put a car back together properly to prove his point. What happens if he found out a customer was gay after he started working on the car? He said he would put it back together without the nuts. Not only is it a violation of a contract and fraud, but puts everyone else on the road at risk. If he has any dissatisfied customers, they now have grounds to sue him claiming he didn’t do a proper job because he thought they were gay.

Or they can just do as he did and make a nonsensical and whiny FaceBook post about how so put-upon they are. Odd he didn’t suggest that- him supporting others rights and all- instead of advising they bring it up with someone he thinks will resort to violence as a result.

    Come, come, Mr Dieseltech Owner.

    When you write:

Apparently if you are white (or close to it), you have a job, go to church, and own a gun… That translates into racists, privileged, bigot, conspiracy theorist.

    you’re completely off base.

You’re not being called racist (or otherwise bigoted), privileged, or a conspiracy theorist just because you’re white, have a job, go to church, and own a gun – after all, plenty of people are/do all of those things without being called those names.

You’re being called racist/bigoted, privileged, and a conspiracy theorist because you write bigoted things, are a white male (almost certainly) Protestant (likely evangelical), and have bought into whacky conspiratorial ideation, including such notions as liberals are out to get your freedom of speech.

  • http://composer99.blogspot.ca composer99

Ooops, make that Dieseltec, sans h.

I am not racists, you are for assuming I am, however, I am really quick to judge… if it acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck…

I’m not understanding the connection between racism and ducks.

Do mallards face a lot of persecution in Michigan? What happens if you just wear a green toque on the wrong day? Also, why the emphasis on looking like a duck? Wouldn’t passing be a problem? Once identified as a duck-based life form, are avians in Michigan subjected to arbitrary, duck-based punishments?

I admit I’m not up on my Christianity, but Jesus is the one who said the stuff about loving your enemy and “let him who is without sin cast the first stone,” right? Is it too much to expect the self-professed Christians to have at least a passing familiarity with their religion? I know, I know. It is.

  • Pierce R. Butler

If a genuine certified heterosexual brings a truck into Dieseltec, adorned with a set of TruckNutz™, and some work needs doing on that end of the truck, do they have a woman on staff specially trained to handle those TruckNutz™ to move them out of the way so a manly man mechanic doesn’t get his hands, uh, dirty?

  • http://umlud.blogspot.com umlud

So the guy’s saying that he is going to give the “New Black Panthers” a discount when they come into his store with their guns? What about groups of people speaking Arabic and carrying around guns? Or any other group of people stereotyped as “violent” by right-wing media?

Or will his stance on people with guns suddenly change?

  • Chiroptera

    umlud, #24:

Well, last year there was that Arkansas gun range that decided to not allow Muslims to use their facilities, so there is some precedent with which to guess an answer to your question.

Oh come on, modus. Everyone knows gayhomos don’t have guns. Guns are only for patriotic, conservative non-homo studly he-men like yourself. Except for Uzis, which are also for 9 year old girls at shooting ranges.

    @21. footface :

I admit I’m not up on my Christianity, but Jesus is the one who said the stuff about loving your enemy and “let him who is without sin cast the first stone,” right? Is it too much to expect the self-professed Christians to have at least a passing familiarity with their religion? I know, I know. It is.

Yes indeed – seconded. Also the same guy who famously said :

Judge not, that ye be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1-5)

Yet this pitiful fool says both “I am a Christian. “ & ” I am really quick to judge.”

Hey, Dude, make up your mind -which of those are you – can’t be both!

Oh and thinking Christianity and its policies, as well as missing the whole bit about “loving thy neighbour”*, this sad tosspot seems to have missed the bit about what policy Jesus commanded him to follow towards those who are (supposedly or in reality) persecuting you :

“”If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.…”

    – Matthew 5:41

Which I guess means this homophobic mechanic needs to do the correct “Christian” thing then he’ll fix a gay customers car, um, twice (once for free?) or fix it twice as good as anyone else’s or something!

    * And who is that neighbour? Well the parable of the Samaritan kinda says the answer is *everyone* even a group as hated as those vile heretics! As Isaac Asimov superbly summed it up :

… We forget the point of the parable is entirely vitiated by the common phrase “good” Samaritan for that has cast a false light on who the Samaritans were. . . To the Jews [of Jesus’ time – ed.] the Samaritans were not good. They were hated, despised, contemptible heretics with whom no good Jew would have anything to do. Again, the whole point is lost through non-translation. … (Snip)…The Parable of the Good Samaritan clearly teaches that there is nothing parochial in the concept “neighbor,” that you cannot confine your decency to your own group and your own kind. All mankind, right down to those those you most despise are your neighbours.”
