Michael Savage’s Fascist Fantasies

Michael Savage revealed just how close to fascism his beliefs truly are by saying on his radio show that we should bring back Joseph McCarthy’s House Un-American Activities Committee, deport attorneys who defend immigrants and those who work for the ACLU or Southern Poverty Law Center.

Savage quickly corrected himself, but the mention of Goldman led him to insist that more people should be deported, like Goldman, and that the U.S. should reestablish the House Un-American Activities Committee, recommending that the new HUAC order the deportation of people who “work against America” such as people who work for the American Civil Liberties Union and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

“I love McCarthy,” he said, adding that “real American” military veterans should run the new HUAC. He eventually returned to immigration: “No more immigrants, end of story.”

He said that the U.S. should “work out a deal with Russia” and “build internment camps somewhere in Siberia” for undocumented immigrants in the prison system, and also deport “greedy little NYU graduates” who work as immigration attorneys.

Heil Savage.

Laugh it up, this putz has millions of listeners who lap up his every word. I wonder how many of those listeners know that his real name is Michael Weiner?

  • blf

    Why deport useful slaves?

  • blf

Whilst this nutter apparently does have over 3 million listeners, How many tune in for the laughs; How many are involuntary; and How many believe even some of the outrageous nonsenses?

  • John Pieret

I suspect that Savage has just taken notice of how crazy the rest of right wing media bubble has become and realizes he has to ramp up in order to compete.

  • scienceavenger

I guess Savage would have deported that bleeding heart commie John Adams, for defending the Boston Massacre shooters at trial. Should have just tortured them I suppose.

Why does Michael Savage hate America?

  • colnago80

    Re John Pieret @ #4

That’s pretty much right on. The competition on the right wing is getting pretty fierce and all the participants have to up their game to compete.

I listen out of disbelief that such insanity can be real and not institutionaiized for treatment.

Its amazing what you can hear on his show – illegal immigration began under Clinton (Reagan’s grant of immunity for illegals was for people who didn’t exist), liberalism started its evil plan to take over the country around 1980 (apparently by giving the country 8 years of St. Ronnie & 4 of Bush I), George Soros controls the entire financial & political world and Obama is simulltaneously his stooge/boss/tool/unwitting accomplice chosen before he was born, Israel is the US’s partner in creating & financing ISIS (Jewish guilt feeling is worse than I thought) so it can destroy them and he, Michael Savage , is the only one who speaks up for white conservative Christians.

Small doses required to attain some immunity.

Hmm, the tried-‘n’-true “trains to the East” policy, ja, Michael?

“We should ban immigrants and deport the descendants of immigrants!”

  • Synfandel

Savage falsely claimed that it was authored by communist activist Emma Goldman.

Did he, perhaps, mean Emmanuel Goldstein?

The competition [oninside] the right wing [bubble / echo chamber] is getting pretty fierce…

Suggested fix (emphasized only to make clear my edits).

  • whheydt

Okay, Mr. Savage… An ancestor of mine, born in South Carolina, fought in the American Revolution. So…by your lights, I bet we need to deport immigrants…like YOU.

Joseph McCarthy’s House Un-American Activities Committee

Um, no. McCarthy was in the U.S. Senate and HUAC was a committee of the House. McCarthy’s platform was the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (part of the Committee on Government Operations).

Why does he think Russia would want in on this deal?

  • had3

And deport doctors who care for ACLU members or illegal aliens too.

    @10. Synfandel :

Savage falsely claimed that it was authored by communist activist Emma Goldman.

Did he, perhaps, mean Emmanuel Goldstein?

Given the mention of being fried in Sing Sing for given the Communists nuclear secrets, I think he probably means Julius and Ethel Rosenberg :

Deporting the Southern Poverty Law Centre people (& maybe all the “activist” judges too) plus hating Emma Lazarus’s famous New Colossus poem affixxed to the base of the Statute of Liberty sounds pretty damn un-American to me. Perhaps Michael Savage should be deported – but which country would have him?

    How much more anti-Amercian

I wonder how much Joe McCarthy fan Savage really understands about his heroes over egged and lied about military record too :

McCarthy reportedly chose the Marines with the hope that being a veteran of this branch of the military would serve him best in his future political career.[23] According to Morgan, writing in Reds, Joe’s friend Urban P. Van Susteren, a lawyer, and later judge, whom McCarthy had named divorce counsel for Shawano County, and who had applied for active duty in the Army Air Force in early 1942, advised him: “Be a hero–join the Marines.” When McCarthy seemed hesitant, Van Susteren asked, “You got shit in your blood?”[24] … (snip) .. McCarthy served a total tour of duty in the Marines lasting thirty months, or 2½ years, from August 1942 to February 1945, and he held the rank of captain by the time he was discharged in April 1945. He flew twelve combat missions as a gunner-observer, earning the nickname of “Tail-Gunner Joe” in the course of one of these missions.[27] He later claimed 32 missions in order to qualify for a Distinguished Flying Cross, which he received in 1952. McCarthy publicized a letter of commendation which he claimed had been signed by his commanding officer and countersigned by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, then Chief of Naval Operations. However, it was revealed that McCarthy had written this letter himself, in his capacity as intelligence officer. A “war wound” that McCarthy made the subject of varying stories involving airplane crashes or anti-aircraft fire was in fact received aboard ship during a ceremony for sailors crossing the equator for the first time.[23][28] McCarthy campaigned for the Republican Senate nomination in Wisconsin while still on active duty in 1944 but was defeated for the GOP nomination by Alexander Wiley, the incumbent. He resigned his commission in April 1945, five months before the end of the Pacific war in September 1945.

Far from the Communists being his enemies during WWII the Stalinist Russians were our allies back then and i think from the context that McCarthy was directly fighting the Imperial Japanese.

“I would deport anyone working who is against the interests of this country .. ” – M. Savage.

So deport all those who signed that letter to Iran saying we wouldn’t honor any deal with Obama then – and all those who shut down the government and also those who have delayed taking action on Global Overheating for decades and who have slandered US climatologists among other things too then?

Hey, I bet Savage would like to bring back the Salem witch trials too!

Emma Goldman was an anarchist NOT not a communist who was Russian born and never became a US citizen. Remarkable woman. She condemned later Bolshevik policies and actions

The twists and turns of history …

The Soviet invasion of Poland was a Soviet military operation that started without a formal declaration of war on 17 September 1939. On that day, sixteen days after Nazi Germany invaded Poland from the west, the Soviet Union did so from the east. The invasion ended on 6 October 1939 with the two-way division and annexation of the entire Second Polish Republic by Germany and the Soviet Union.

@ ^ jonathangray : Yep. History is fascinating and often surprising with a lot of twists and turns and complexities. Sure ain’t black and white is it?!

Fascism and racism should be now be things of the past everywhere. Our shared humanity and the non-existence of race outside social mythologies and the failures of fascism and supremacists should be in history’s dustbin alongside Leninism. Pity they ain’t.

  • StevoR

^ EDIT : Posted too soon. D’oh! Make that :

Fascism and racism should be now be things of the past everywhere. Our shared humanity and the non-existence of “race” outside social mythologies and consequent mistreatment of folks by other folks for no fucken good reason at all should be axiomatic by now given historic precedent as well as scientific knowledge. The failures of fascism and racial supremacists should have long ago been relegated to history’s dustbin alongside Leninism, Phlogiston theory and the Divine right of Kings. Pity they ain’t eh?
