Rios: Rainbow White House Increases Terrorism Risk

Sandy Rios is, to say the least, not the sharpest bulb in the sign. The American Family Association official and radio show host is now claiming that the lighting up of the White House in rainbow colors has made terrorism more likely in the near future. Because reasons.

The rainbow, she said, “was God’s sign to mankind that he would never destroy the earth again by flood,” so if “you take his symbol and you use it for a sign of sexual behavior that is ungodly, unallowed,” it will have “some consequence.”

“My grief is for you, because you don’t understand what you just did. You don’t understand,” she told gay rights activists. “Again, now, to get more practical about this, the terror threat against this nation has gone up exponentially.”

Citing warnings about possible terrorist attacks in America over the July 4th weekend, Rios declared that, to make matters worse, “it is Ramadan.” Unlike Christians, whom Rios claimed understand the true meaning of the word ‘holy,’ Muslims use the holy month of Ramadan to “fast so that [they] can murder people,” she said.

Yes, they fast because that helps them kill people. Or something. Sadly, that isn’t the dumbest thing I’ve read today, not by a longshot.

    She is absolutely right! Everyone knows terrorists hate the visible spectrum of light! That is why their flags are so often black! The only thing they hate more than our freedom is Newton’s work in optics!

    The rainbow, she said, “was God’s sign to mankind that he would never destroy the earth again by flood,”

    What I heard is that not satisfied with the flood he deployed a doomsday weapon of immense power that was meant to “get the job done once and for all” and due to some unforeseen circumstances and not reading the instructions all it produced was a rainbow. At that point he gave up because Ms God was nagging him to eat something and he did feel kind of peckish.

    Inasmuch as God has yet to get around to smiting for example Massachusetts, Connecticut, western Europe or Canada, I expect the rest of the U.S. has a while before the brimstone starts falling.

    the terror threat against this nation has gone up exponentially.

    It’s true. It’s just that the exponent is 1.

    I see your point, Sandy. Radical Islamists are against gay rights. Supporting equality for homosexuals, by deed and by show, could provoke more anti-Americanism. So we should definitely try to appease them. Once we’ve stripped gays of all their rights, if the Islamists are still not mollified, we can move on to other groups they oppose, like say women or Christians. I think you’ve hit on the answer here Sandy, total appeasement will make us safe.

    It’s true. It’s just that the exponent is 1.

    The base, perhaps? Or maybe the exponent is zero, so you don’t have to pick a base?

  • Loqi

    @D.C.

    The base is X, which is an integer representation of the “terror threat,” however one chooses to calculate that. Rainbow lights at the White House modify that base by raising it to the first power.

    It’s frustrating that people have absolutely no idea what “exponentially” means.

    Also is Rios making a threat? Because her looney-tunes followers are a non-zero threat for ham-fisted terrorist attacks against the White House.

    Sandy Rios:

    “Again, now, to get more practical about this, the terror threat against this nation has gone up exponentially.”

    Sandy Rio’s god is rather sick in the head. Much like it’s creator, Sandy Rios.

    God loves the US best, America is god’s country, the New Israel. God is angry with us and about all but to destroy us. God is an abusive and sadistic parent. He does have one redeeming quality though. He only exists as a fantasy in Sandy Rios head.

    So, now letting the terrorists win is a GOOD thing?

  • RickR

    Sadly, that isn’t the dumbest thing I’ve read today, not by a longshot.

    Hell, that’s not even the dumbest thing Rios has said today.

    @JoeBuddha

    That showed up right after 9/11. “The terrorists hate us for our freedoms, so let’s get rid if the freedoms.” The underlying issue is, of course, that the fundies agree with the terrorists, but can’t admit that.

    Not the brightest knife in the drawer.

    American Family Association official Sandy Rios warned on her radio program yesterday that the Obama administration’s decision to light up the White House in rainbow colors in celebration of the Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision was “an unbelievable affront to God” that will have “consequences.”

    So only God is allowed to display a rainbow of colors? This must be something like Green Lantern’s powerlessness against anything colored yellow (because his power ring contained a yellow impurity.)

    Rios might just have a point, though. I learned that the Defense Department is preparing squadrons of iron chariots with mounted spotlights and prisms. (Yep, another secret memo.)

    Since the biggest threat of terrorism in this country comes from domestic right-wing extremists, should we take this as a threat?

  • Goblinman

    If she’s really worried about not inciting Islamic terrorists, shouldn’t she start by not directly insulting Islam? Interesting how she’s only expecting liberals to limit their freedom of expression.

    Really?

    Any citation for that …?
