Man Threatens to Kill ‘Usurper’ Obama, Calls It ‘Constitutional Duty’

A man in Wisconsin has been arrested and charged with threatening to kill the president, something he says was his “constitutional duty” because Obama is a “usurper.” In other words, he took his inspiration pretty much word for word from right-wing anti-Obama rhetoric.

A Wisconsin man is in custody for threatening to kill President Barack Obama after allegedly telling a security guard at a La Crosse library, “the usurper is here and if I get a chance I’ll take him out and I’ll take the shot.”

Brian D. Dutcher, 55, of Tomah, was taken into custody after confirming his threat to the Secret Service, KTLA reports.

According to the warrant for his arrest, Dutcher also posted a threat against the president on Facebook on June 30, reading, “that’s it! Thursday I will be in La Crosse. Hopefully I will get a clear shot at the pretend president. Killing him is our CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY!”

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? It’s precisely position taken by the far right in this country from the moment Obama took office. They have denied Obama’s eligibility to be president, on simply ridiculous grounds, thus he is a “usurper” and the elections were irrelevant. And he’s trying to destroy the Constitution, he’s God’s punishment on America, he’s a communist and a Muslim, or at least a Muslim sympathizer, who is deliberately trying to destroy the country.

If those things were true, it would be a perfectly reasonable response to take him out, at least to those whose brains are pickled in conspiracy theories on a daily basis. I’m not the least bit shocked that the man would do this. I’m frankly shocked that it hasn’t happened more often (though given the huge increase in credible threats on the president since Obama took office, maybe it has and we just don’t have such clear statements from would-be killers).

…though given the huge increase in credible threats on the president since Obama took office…

And the incredible threats. I was going to beat him in a chilli cook-off.

But … but … if he had really done it, he would be a “lone wolf” and conservatives couldn’t be blamed for his killing the usurper.

I recall that the number of threats against then President Lyndon Johnson were so numerous that he was confined to the White House and his Texas ranch between 1965 until his withdrawal from the 1968 presidential race. Apparently, the number against the current incumbent greatly exceeds that, although he is not so confined. Given some of the lapses the past year by the Secret Service, I’m not sure that’s a good idea, although maybe he ain’t so safe in the White House.

As much as I value free speech, I have come to really wish this country’s sedition laws were enforced.

What is the big deal? He just wants to combine his 1st and 2nd Amendment rights!!

Lousy Obama! always trampling the rights of honest, God-fearing Americans!!

John Pieret – even worse, if Dutcher succeeded conservatives would find some sort of way to paint themselves the victims. Perhaps they’d finally accept Obama’s professed Christianity and make it an attack on Christians.

Lone wolf attackers are made and encouraged. Often online. Just ask Dylann Roof and ISL recruits. The makers and encouragers of lone wolves on the right want plausible deniability.

  • Saad

I hope he threw leeches into a fire while saying that.

    The usurper Barack Hussein Obama…

More likely we’d be hearing a renewed outcry from the gunloonz: “Because of that lone madman killing Obama, the gummint is really going to take the guns away from law-abiding citizens. For real this time!”

    Sure.

And it would have been an attack on…xians!!! Because, Obama has been a vocal xian for decades. In fact, he won the election because god wanted a xian to be President, not a Mormon heretic.

    LOL.

I can see I was late to the party here.

Next up, Michael Savage will claim Dutcher was going to throw Obama to the lions for being a…xian.

Historical Footnote: The car in A Clockwork Orange was a Kenyan Usurper. True story.

“A Wisconsin man is in custody for threatening to kill President Barack Obama after allegedly telling a security guard…”

Obviously this guy is a loon and a moron, but seriously, he didn’t know what the purpose of a security guard is? The mind boggles.

But Saad, whose blood would have to be in the leech?

  • Nemo

Ah, yes, our Constitutional duty, as found in Article 2, Section 4: “The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors, or by being shot by some random yahoo.”

  • shallit

When you have Michael Savage saying that an act of God is needed to stop demonic Obama, who can be surprised that there aren’t uneducated, disaffected, right-wingers willing to follow him?

  • sigurd jorsalfar

Good thing he got confused and thought his CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY also includes telling his plans to a security guard first.
