Trump: Watch Me Double Down While Claiming Media Distortion

Donald Trump, who has as little regard for truth as anyone who has ever walked the earth, now says the media has distorted his claims about Mexicans being rapists and murderers. They distorted if, of course, by quoting him. And to prove that, he’s now adding even more racist bullshit.

Trump said in his statement that some in the news media had begun to “totally distort” what he had said over the past week, and that “many fabulous people come in from Mexico and our country is better for it.”

However, he said, the United States has become “a dumping ground for Mexico” with illegal border-crossers smuggling illicit drugs and carrying “tremendous infectious disease.”

Trump said the recent killing of a woman in San Francisco by a illegal immigrant from Mexico with a criminal record proves him right.

“This is merely one of thousands of similar incidents throughout the United States. In other words, the worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican government,” he said.

Ah yes, the old myth of the diseased immigrant. Trump neither knows nor cares that vaccination rates are actually higher in Mexico than they are in the United States. Oh wait, Trump is an anti-vaxxer too. Nor does he care that first generation immigrants have a significantly lower crime rate than American citizens do. Those things are facts and Trump could not possibly care any less about facts.

Imagine being a political adviser for Trump. Every day must be exactly the same, just pleading with Trump: “You can’t fucking say that!”

The best part of all this is the corner it puts the Republicans in. They were hoping it would just get swept under the rug, but here comes The Donald Trumpeting the whole “immigration reform” thing all over the front pages. So they’re scrambling as fast as they can to distance themselves from Trump on tone while not saying anything that either their foaming nativist base nor the broader electorate will object to.

There really are times I wish I could abide popcorn.

‘Imagine being a political adviser for Trump. Every day must be exactly the same, just pleading with Trump: “You can’t fucking say that!”’

The first time anyone says that to him, they are fired. He doesn’t allow dissent around him. If he actually listened to advisers, maybe he wouldn’t have gone bankrupt 4 times.

First of all, no. Trump’s advisor agrees with Trump.

Second, Trump went for the very best, the greatest, the most classy advisor he could find; Trump.

Third, Trump gets a bump in the polls every time he says something Nativist without the dogwhistles.

Marybel Gonzalez (Miss Colorado 2012) Slams Donald Trump

Said Ms. Gonzalez: “When I watched your ill worded and completely erroneous speech, the only thing that resonated with me was the level of ignorance in your words.”

    ¡Exactamente!

Turnip Trump is second (behind Jed!) in New Hampshire polls and in a virtual tie with Ben Carson for second behind Scott Walker in Iowa. I guess he can fucking say that in the Republican primaries.

It looks like he’s accepted some sound advice. He switched from trying to bully the media to whining that the media is bullying him. Straight out of Conservatism 101: You are always the victim, even as you stamp your boot on someone else’s face.

I suspect that there are two groups of people working in Trump’s campaign office. One is a set of true believers — they wouldn’t tell Trump “don’t do that” because they think he’s right. The other is a group who are completely cynical about it and are riding the gravy train for as long as they can. Again, there’s no reason for them to say “don’t do that.”

I’m sure it’s similar in his legal department. The suit against Univision includes a completely ridiculous defamation claim. No lawyer working for Trump is going to tell hem that he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

This time, Trump’s dig at the media is about half-correct: the media may not be distorting what he said, but they sure as Hell are distorting (when they’re not ignoring) real-world events. That’s part of the reason why people like Trump get any traction with the public: too many of them simply don’t know any better, because the people who are supposed to be informing them don’t know any better either.

Yesterday’s booby-prize, to take just one example, goes to CNN, who first trumpeted Trump’s racist rhetoric, then trumpeted the public reaction to same, then trumpeted the news of an illegal immigrant shooting a (white) woman…and then promised a sit-down interview with Trump, so he could spout more bullshit to an audience of millions.

Trump isn’t guilty of lying about the media — he’s guilty of being ungrateful to them.

The object of the lamestream media is to sell newspapers/page views to attract advertising. It’s a business, just like selling timeshares. The sad fact is that Trump is probably the best known of the Rethuglican candidates and interviewing him attracts eyeballs.

… “many fabulous people come in from Mexico and our country is better for it.”

But who has to clean up all those trails of glitter across the southern border?

Trump apparently learned a very interesting variation of the Rule of Holes. And now I’m out of popcorn.

    From the OP:

I would assume his political advisors are saying “SuperPAC money… so… tasty!” though copious drool.

Wait…Is someone comparing undocumented migrants to slugs?
