“Coach” Dave Daubenmire is all about being super hyper-macho, so of course he blames the problem of school shootings on “sissy boys” who weren’t man enough to rush the shooter and tackle him. When he coached football, did they do sack drills with live fire?
Religious Right activist Dave Daubenmire has been anything but shy about criticizing the male students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, for not acting like “real men” and tackling a shooter who opened fire on the school last week with an assault rifle, killing 12 students and five faculty members…
“This will sound horrible, but I have to say it,” Daubenmire stated. “Instead of the aftermath of these shootings in Florida being, ‘Hey, dude,’ where young guys are saying to each other, ‘I’m gonna learn to fire a gun, I ain’t ever gonna let this happen again, I’m gonna learn to fire a gun,’ instead the reaction is, ‘Oh, please take the guns away.’ The exact opposite message! Meet power with power! That’s manhood, masculinity!“We don’t even teach it, we have no concept of it,” Daubenmire lamented, adding that “guys like us who really get it” are ridiculed by people like Howard Stern and organizations like Right Wing Watch.
“Most guys don’t have the stones to stand up and say, ‘I don’t care what you say!’” Daubenmire screamed. “‘It don’t bother me! Here’s what I think! Suck on that one, bud!’”
That’s brilliant. Let’s tell teenage boys who are totally unarmed that they should run at a guy with an AR-15 or they’re not being “manly.” The result: More dead people. I just don’t understand this mindset at all. It’s so irrational and perverse that I just can’t wrap my head around it. My only request is this: You first. I’ll watch. And then I’m going to stand over your dead body and laugh.
