Scientology Loses Tax Exemption in the Netherlands

Well this is a very positive development. The "Church" of Scientology has been stripped of its tax-exempt status by a court in the Hague, Netherlands. Belgium did the same thing a few years ago and added in a major criminal investigation as well, though I'm not sure what ever came of that. The Dutch court ruled that the "courses" the "church" charges for were solely to make a profit. … [Read more...]

My Esteemed Colleague from the Church of Scientology

The Daily Beast has an article about Rep. David Jolly of Florida, who is a candidate to replace Marco Rubio in the Senate. Those ties could cause real problems for him as he runs to represent the entire state. … [Read more...]

L. Ron Hubbard’s Great Grandson Speaks Out

Jamie DeWolf is the great-grandson of L. Ron Hubbard. There's apparently a war breaking out between celebrity Scientologists in Hollywood, or at least between Leah Remini, the former King of Queens star who recently left the "church" while criticizing its leader, David Miscavige, and Kirstie Alley, who is quite upset about it. Jenna Miscavage’s Book on Scientology

With all the time on airplanes and in airports over the weekend, I had a chance to get about halfway through Jenna Miscavage Hill's book Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape.
